Has anyone tried this place? If so, how was the food / atmosphere? Especially for kids? Pier 59 is not the best place for kids.

Me and my son(13) went Friday nite and sat on the patio and there was another family with kids....... We came back Saturday nite with Wife and both sons.... (13-17) and there was a party on the patio that had about 5-6 kids with them....... It was too hot to sit out there and we moved inside.....

Saying the food was excellent would almost be an understatement. Both nites I got a sampler platter that had Steak-Shrimp-Grilled catfish and grilled chicken+ vegatables. Everything was top notch....

I talked to them both nites while there about how its best to get in there to eat. Two weeks prior we just showed up and they said it would be almost 2 hours before they could sit us. We left and went to the pier 59.

They said it is best to make a reservation. This past weekend we had one reservation at 830 on Friday and 730 on Saturday. 830 we sat on the patio and it was nice out.....730 the sun was still out and too hot for the patio.

While I am a fan of Pier 59 and do take my kids their regularly to eat (during daylight) I agree that it is a questionable place for kids to go.

Mikes is more of a resturant (come-dine-leave) instead of a hangout place that the Pier is. I fully recommend it but suggest making reservations.

Great food but go early if you're gonna sit inside or make a reservation. A little pricy but for a lake place, very reasonable I think. I hope they stick around.

By water go a little further than the clear creek directions I gave and go to the right and you will follow the water all the way back..... Passing Pier 59 on the left..... follow around to the right and you will pass 1 marina (woods surfside) and keep going you will come to a marina where you can basically go no further...... It is Rabbit branch if you know where that is.

I have never been by car before so someone correct me if I am wrong.

Go down 231 and turn at Richies Grocery right past Fat Mans BBQ...... Follow around to the right and you will come to Rabbit Branch Marina and it is on the right side of the parking lot when the marina store is on the left.

I would recommend a car unless you like long boat rides.... I know by boat it takes me an hour to get to I20 at a pretty good pace and I am with in 10 mins to Mikes.

the driving directions are correct, we drove, it is 5 mins from my house by car, 15-20 by water
