Was finally able to get out on the water yesterday with the 'toon! By myself so explored a little without the kids. What an eyesore that Yacht club is already. They cleared every single piece of foliage up there and stripped the whole thing down to dirt. At least Lincoln Harbor left the trees in front of it and cleared behind. Those guys cleared everything, and I mean everything. It looks absolutely terrible from the water. So all we have to look forward to is a bunch of town homes staring you in the face when you come around the bend headed north. I can't believe they stripped that whole part of the landscape down to nothing.

Also, who built the concrete mess just to the left of Lincoln Harbor? Has anyone seen that? It's got huge concrete walls, huge brick house, not a single tree left, it looks terrible. Why would APCO or anyone approve of all of that terrible looking concrete? I'm sure they have a great view but it in no way fits into the lake.

Sorry for the rants, but some of these new constructions that scrape everything and leave absolutely nothing really are starting to tick me off.

I was down there sunday also . I seen everything you were talking about. The one thing that really caught my attention was the new house being built right off the side of that mountain before you get to Lincoln Harbor. Its a really nice house, but for the life of me I cant see how they can make a drive down to it . It seems there wasent one level spot anywhere to even stand, much less park. I will be watching it to see how it turns out.

We took a boat ride out that way to check it out this past weekend. It reminds me of Panama City Beach. When I was younger, we were able to enjoy the beach from the roadways and had great views from all directions and all hotels. Now all you see is a concrete city, and you have to stay in a condo to even see the beach and ocean. I know one thing for sure - It will definately be much more congested on the lake in a couple of years. More boats, more people, more accidents, more pollution. If there is a plus side, it is an increase in property values, but is the trade off worth it? Be safe.

That one is my neighbor. They have really put a lot of effort into that place and it will be nice. And they have worked very hard to leave some native trees and vegitation there. All the stuff that was removed was junk. I walked down what will be the driveway the other day and it was tough but not at all impossible. I have 99 stairs with some landings from my house to the water.

I haven't seen the other place near Lincoln Harbor. Judging from some of the stuff you see. Like a camper next door to a 1/4 million place, I'd say there is no planning.

That huge house on the point across from the one we are talking about above. They completely cleared that lot to build that place. And then came back in with the landscape. It looks good now. But it would have been nice too if they could have kept some of the native stuff.

Anybody up for a neighborhood association? That or zoning laws would be the only way I know to change any of that. For me, I like the fact that it's my place and I can do what I want. But you cannot legislate common sense. Fortunatly, I have a little. But maybe not a lot. Like I said, 99 stairs from the water to the house. But I save some time and money on a gym membership. Thats not entirely true. I did join a gym this year. But I'll say this. After hitting the gym 3 or more times a week, my stairs don;t seem near as steep as they did last year.

Peace,

My place is simular to yours. I dont have stairs , I have a boat ramp, I just hop in the toyota and drive down to the water. I do cut most of my grass in the back with a riding lawn mower but it can be scary if you make the wrong move. Im not sure if I should wear a helment or life jacket or both while cutting the grass. I agree, your neighbors house is really nice, I cant wait to see it finished. I know it would be relaxing sitting on the deck there with a great view.

I had to go check that one out for myself this afternoon. I saw those big concrete walls being built last year and I thought it was part of Lincoln Harbor. I had not seen the house till today. I was shocked. And did you notice that the windows are covered with a tarp on the inside? I don;t know what kind of vehicle is going to pull that hill but it must be massive.

That is way too much. I'm kinda optomistic about the Yacht Club doing something better but I do agree that it's been stripped. And what about some silt fence or something? I didn't see a single piece.

It was nice to see some progress made at Lincoln Harbor. I thought it had fairly stopped. But they have a pier now and a few things have changed.

Peace,

What is sad but funny just wait untill mid summer when the water is down and it is hot. You will see these big houses vacant and the little campgrounds will be slap full.I have a place at Powells and can see the Yacht club from my porch but I could care less.I will be at my little camper this weekend burning gas.

You know, you are right. I hadn't thought about it quite that way.

At the risk of jinxing my weekend. Seems I'm off Saturday for a change and I'm hoping to sit on the pier or on the boat and watch the world go by. Anybody else gonna be around? Maybe we could sit around and solve all the lakes problems after a bottle or 3 of liquid reason. If you're up that way, stop by.

Peace,

TC, where are you located and the wife and I might swing by on the boat and say hi? I have seen a lot of changes in the past year also. Thats why we did not buy a lot on Lanier where we live. You can not move on that lake on the weekends. But then again the lots start at half a million. $$$ TC give me a call if you like. 770-833-7635

See Ya, other other GA. Steve

I'm half a mile south of the bridge on the Talladega side. Right beside the new house thats going up. I'm hoping to be out there a little after lunch. I should probably do some yard work or something during the morning hours. Besides, it'll take the beverages a little while to soak.

I hope to see you. I might ride down to the rocks if theres a crowd. But theres pretty good entertainment just sitting at the pier so I might just save the gas.

Peace,

TC,
If your out riding, we are the first pocket on the right, as soon as you pass the opening to go into poor house. You will see our brown boat house / garage with a camper behind it. We will be out pressure washing. Beside us is a couple of other canpers. Stop by and see us if you get a chance.
