Are they Rotax?
If so  I would take them down to the A&P at Wetumpka and let them do it.

I have done them on one Rotax 503UL powered ultralight I owned in the past.
But,,,,,,,,,,, I don't have the insurance for the liability to get any where near them.
Good luck, maybe send them off to a shop?

Ya know, if they mess up, there is no drop anchor and get a tow or walk to the store and call a friend to pick you up,,,,Your going down and only your altitude can help you.

Good luck I hope you can find some one that has the insurance to help!,,,,
Seriously......

Heather.

I wonder if my insurance carrier would cover this. Interesting question. If so, I will do it.

Are you sure your carb needs to be overhauled? Been using ethanol? Symptoms? Ultralights fall under "experimental" with the regs of FAR's so CAT could look at your carb. Liability is a serious issue so I'd caution against tearing into it without prior experience on the make/ model. Personnally, it's more of a responsibility that I would take and I have 13 yrs. under my belt as an A&P. Fish google for an overhaul facility or contact the carbs manufacturer for a regional repair shop.

A&P means Airframe and Powerplant in the airplane world, so you should be qualified. Would be a good idea to make sure that is what the issue is though. I don't mind doing it, and the little piece of paper in my pocket says "I can go fly". And yall thought CAT only drove boats! LOL.

Gladly. Never said unqualified. Read carefully cat. Note: without prior experience on make and model. Do what you will cat but a mistake on your part will most assuredly put you as a roomate to scrushys' current gated community.

Are you saying that it is a Federal Criminal Offense to help a friend fix his ultra light?  What code sec is that?

What I meant was that you used the term "FARS" and A&P, "Experimental Aircraft", etc. Many persons on the board forum may not know what these abreviations mean, thus not letting them understand the importance of your post, and your true credentials. I only wish I was A&P, and would never question your qualifications. That is all I was saying. I have not flown in several years, and it was kinda neat to read your terms. As far as working on a "Experimental Aircraft" and it's liability, I don't see much difference in working on a 40 ft. Powerboat that travels 150mph. Maybe that is why my liability insurance is so expensive! I post and have signed wavers, but still feel the need to insure. CAT
