We have a female duck sitting on a nest that once had 9 eggs and is down to 2. No sign of broken shells. What would have taken the eggs when she was away feeding? Feel sorry for her losing all those eggs.

With no shells left behind almmost certainly a snake IMO. Most anything else would break, then eat them.
