New tropical depression has the oil spill location dead in its sights.  Going to make millions of little blobs out of those thousands of big blobs of crude and make cleanup that much harder.  Pray that its present track gets moved north or south.  See the URL

Cleanup and sample collection boats are finding it increasingly difficult to find crude oil.  Some 750 boats are at work skimming oil but are having a hard time finding any to skim.  This is similar to our experience when we were on the Gulf trying to collect samples.

Is that because they recovered most of it or because it went submarine?  Hopefully the former.

Not really sure but its not due to submersion as oil has a lower specific gravity than water.  I suspect it is a combination of recovery efforts, natural degradation, some of it coming ashore, a spreading out of what was released, etc.  As I said in one of my earlier posts the maps put out by NOAA even early on were very misleading.  We would go for long distances between strands of oil where the water was pristine.  Having said that, there may be dissolved phase that is no visible but could be detected by a lab.  However, the dissolved phase is highly degradable in the environment, especially in open water.

I am looking seriously at gulf front rental condos right now because I think prices are very depressed, interest rates are very low and I am optimistic the worst is behind us.
