Notice how there are no stats as to the number of people that watched the speech? I suspect when they trickle out it will be dismal. Most people already knew he was going to double down on his failed porkulus with more porkulus. Duh....... The speech was a campaign speech and as expected he is proposing something that won't work so when the GOP rightly proposes sensible reforms that the Dem-led Senate will block Oblamer will blame the GOP. He is apparently going to mimick Harry Truman and run against the "do-nothing Congress". Two problems with that Messiah. One, Americans actually like Truman's policies and overwhelmingly oppose Oblamers. Two, for the first two years of his administration Dems controlled the House and the Senate and in 2012 the Senate will still be controlled by Dems. So he will have to run against his own party and that won't be lost on most voters. Even Dems in Congress are getting tired of Oblamer blaming them for his failed Presidency. Oblamer is probably a nice enough guy and he seems to be a docile, compliant husband that does what Michelle tells him, but he is just not up to any job that requires executive skills, let alone the Presidency. Any one of the GOP hopefuls, including the nut Ron Paul and the RINO-lite Huntsman, would be markedly better at the job and a vast improvement. HOPEless and CHANGE for the worse!

Please review my response to Old Crappie above. How can we blame the current or even the past administration for our problem with unemployment. You have to have qualified employees willing to work to reduce unemployment. A lot of the promblems the USA has today is not because of President Bush or President Obama. I was told on this Forum years ago to treat President Bush with the respect he deserved as our Commander in Chief and as our President. I was not a fan of President Bush, and I am not a fan of President Obama. I only wander why we can not apply the same standard of respect to our current President as we have to our past. I get disgusted by some of the almost obcene and negative name calling some on this Forum use toward our current President and Commander in Chief. He is an elected official serving our Nation Proudly and with respect just as President Bush. Now, we can not say the same about some of the Members of Congress from both parties. A lot of our Nation's problems are a result of society pursuits. Our parents did not raise us the same as today's parents or lack there of are doing for the current generation. I guess the gene pool is just not working fast enuff? LOL

Again, you present a problem and I must say I have made the same observation.  But what is the solution?  Maybe our penchant for saying "oh, poor baby" should be replaced with tough love...make it on your own or perish.

If there is no incentive for these individuals to build the knowledge and skills necessary to function in the workplace, then maybe we need to take away their security blanket.  If they know Uncle Sugar is going to throw money their way, they lose the will to survive on their own.

You and I seem to be joined in arms or at least in thoughts. Please notice, I did not create the threads. Those doing so seem to be less inspired with their post for a potential solution than you or I. They seem only to address the problem which is more than obvious. This does not take much thought or inspiration since it seems to only follow a Democratic or Republican Party Line. I wish posters would spend more time offering solutions with their thoughts for solutions. It is so tiring to hear someone who can not think beyond the Republican or Democratic Party lines. In my view, they are simply pupits and a part of the problem. Maybe they are baiting us. I am available for a smack down. LOL All I can say is that I do not need a political affiliation to think on my own. Although, I generally go in the direction of Repulicans without the T-Party stupidity.

Feb, with all due respect to your view on our current President, we all lived through eight years of the most vitriolic, hate filled, slanderous language about President Bush and VP Cheney.  Now all of the sudden when we have a President who is fundamentally trying to change this country into a European style socialist system while incurring trillions in debt that will have to be paid by my children and grandchildren we are being chastised for our disdain toward this man child?!?!?!?.

I can assure you I respect the office of the President way more than the current occupant does and I have way more respect and love for this country than he ever will.  He thinks you and I are fundamentally racists.  He thinks this country is the cause of the problems in the world instead of the solution.  He is a living, breathing declinist and is not only glad to see us getting our due but is actively promoting it.  He deserves every name I have for him, whether it be the Messiah, Oblamer, the man-child or whatever.

Remember, Saddam Hussein was President of Iraq but that didn't make him worthy of my respect.  Achmidiniwackjob is President of Iran and he isn't worthy of my respect.  Hugo Chavez, Castro, Putin and on and on.  At least with some of them they have the guts to admit openly their desire to destroy our way of life unlike Mr. Obama who does it surreptitiously.  I had no love for Bill Clinton but I will give him credit for at least marginally wanting what was good for the country as long as he got a little action along the way.  But Mr. Obama is a different sort of person and I cannot and will not show him any respect unless he earns it.  And so far he has not even come close.  When he does I will change my tune but not until then.

I promised, during my military service, to “…support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same…”.

I submit that the current Pretender-In-Chief does not respect the Constitution… he is a student AND a proven follower of Alinsky and Ayers and by extension… Marx.  His actions in office FOLLOW THE PLAN of Alinsky and Ayers. This creates a conundrum for me… my own “president” is a domestic enemy.

How do I defend my Constitution and my country against who won his election by the majority of the electroal college... but NOT by the majority of the votes.  The States should be quesstioning this.

FEB - The following is taken from the local Tea Party web site. Can you point out which part, or parts, that you consider to be "stupidity"? I am not picking a fight. For some time now I have tried to learn why people dislike or hate the Tea Party. To me it is simply a very loosely organized grassroots movement peacefully rejecting big government and out-of-control spending. From local Tea Party site) The...Tea Party keeps as its focus those that fall under four foundational principles: - Fiscal Responsibility - Limited Constitutional Government - Individual Rights - The Free Market Under these principles, our core mission is to influence local, state, and national politics, government, and elections to guide our community back to limited government that respects individual rights, practices common sense fiscal responsibility, and allows the free market to flourish.

Like all "principles" the devil is in the details and how these principles are carried out. If the debt ceiling debacle was a demonstration of Tea Party principles, then that was an excellent example of the stupidity. It had nothing to do with "fiscal responsibility" and everything to do with political posturing. And if Michele Bachman is the caucus leader -- well that speaks for itself with regard to stupidity.

THound - Your logic is very confusing. In politics one must posture before compromise or to position for future leverage. And this is especially true when you know your vote does not matter in the current vote. For example, Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling when he was freshman senator. So was that stupidity on his part? That was before he was elected president. Did you vote for him for president even though you considered him stupid for voting against raising the debt ceiling? And if you do not consider Obama stupid for his vote why do you consider Bachman stupid for her vote---same issue with the controlling parties reversed?

I don't consider Bachman stupid for her vote (although it was a stupid vote), I consider her stupid for her remarks. She obviously never checks any facts, and her opinions have no basis in fact. She couldn't even get straight Elvis' birthday and death day, and that is not something that has dueling opinions or experts. If Obama voted against the debt ceiling, then it was a stupid vote too. Political posturing is fine, but when it negatively affects the full faith and credit of the US, then it is stupid and irresponsible. Oh yes, and I did find it offensive that Ron Paul thinks it's okay to let someone die because they are uninsured. But he's a nut case anyway.

I agree that Bachman, like all politicians in general, need to check their facts more thoroughly before they speak on a topic. But most appear to either not know where the hard truth stops and the spin begins.
