OMG, he got one right.  I don't give a chit if Petraeus helped out his honey in exchange for some happy endings.  He is obviously a brilliant tactician and the fact that Obullchitter has sense enough to use him is (and this admission doesn't come easy) one of the few smart things the idiot at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue has done in his six plus years in office.

Of course he has to act on the advice given.....that chapter yet to be written.

Sorry, I strongly disagree with you.  This is a man who willingly shared highly classified data with no "need to know", committed adultry, and likely abused his power by flying his "biographer", i.e. his girlfriend around theatre.  All this is feed his ego and to in support of his adultuous affair.  Others who have done even one of these things has been reduced in rank (at least) or sentenced to prison.  Not to mentioned that there is a serious debate about just how effective his strategy really was - somewhat effective in Iraq, and mostly ineffective in Afghanistan.  He clearly has no personal integrity. 

So he gets a slap on the wrist and the White House consults with him.  He should be shunned as a minimum, reduced in rank, and probably should have served some time in prison.

I have to admit I am torn about this.  I agree with Hound's assessment but at the same time I also believe he could be of value to the administration in crafting a response to the ISIS threat.  I guess I would have preferred that they kept this advice secret but leaking is SOP for DC types to build relationships with the media.

I believe he is a "one trick pony".  I will grant him the expertise on Iraq, but you may recall that his surge theory was more effective in Iraq than it was in Afghanistan and military scholars still debate its long term effectiveness even in Iraq. 

But, I don't personally believe that his consultations are necessarily any more critical than other experts on the region, to the end that he should be forgiven for breaking the law.  He obviously has no personal integrity, and I don't know that I want someone like that advising the WH.  Heaven knows they have big enough problems with integrity as it is.  I'd rather hear he is consulting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, but then they probably won't have anything to do with him, given his disregard for their code of conduct and his inability to be trusted with classified data.  BTW, did you hear that they found highly classified black books (that means information that reveals sources of intelligence and operations) in an unlocked drawer in the first floor of his house?  That tells me all I need to know about his regard for the security of the most sensitive information impacting our national security. 

No morals, no integrity.... perhaps he should be President.
