Well some nut decided to shoot up a GOP basbell practice injuring several including Rep Steve Scalise

At least five people were shot, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), told CNN from the scene of shooting. Two police officers and two or three congressional staff members were among the wounded, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky said on CNN.

The shooter "was going after elected officials," Brooks said, noting that the location of the congressional practice session was well known in the area.

Heard a report on the radio this morning that right before the shooting the nut asked if the players were R or D.  Guess he also suffers TDS - 

Reports of the suspect range from injured, dead, in custody while injured or shot or dead but in custody.

Hodgkinson has a varied arrest record in St. Clair County, for offenses such as failing to obtain electrical permits, damaging a motor vehicle, resisting a peace officer, eluding police, criminal damage to property, driving under the influence and assorted traffic offenses.

In March, a neighbor of Hodgkinson’s called the police on him after he shot a gun 15 times near his home. William Schaumleffel told the Daily Beast that Hodgkinson was firing across a field, into pine trees, and he now believes Hodgkinson was practicing for today’s attack.

In a separate incident in 2006 police were called after Hodgkinson punched a woman in the face and pointed a gun at her boyfriend. The Daily Beast reviewed the police report, which said he also beat his daughter.

Hodgkinson was also “observed throwing” an unnamed minor “around the bedroom,” the police report said. Police identified the girl as his daughter. After the girl broke free, Hodgkinson followed and “started hitting her arms, pulling her hair, and started grabbing her off the bed.”

When a woman tried escaping with Hodgkinson’s daughter in a vehicle, Hodgkinson reached inside and “turned off the ignition,” the report said. “James then pulled out a possible pocket knife and cut [her] seatbelt.”

That's when he punched the female friend in the face with a closed fist.

According to the docs ... the male friend then confronted Hodgkinson, who pulled out a shotgun and pointed it at the guy, and then struck him with the wooden stock of the gun.

He was arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm and domestic battery,

 

but the charges were later dismissed.

Sounds like a winner to me who should not have had firearms to start with.  History of domestic violence, choking children.

Watched this on CNN, just after the police were on the scene. 

A couple of observations:  it took Alexandria Police 10 minutes to get there. 

                                      If not for the armed Capitol Security guards, who were there for the Congressman who was shot.  Members of Congress seemed amazed that a shooter would show up and shoot at them.  One said he wished they were armed, so they wouldn't be sitting ducks. 

                                     Lobbyist for Tysons Food was there practicing with them - he was the most critically injured. 

                                     Shooter had a handgun and rifle.  He had been in the area since March.  Despite all the threatening posts on FB, the FBI never interviewed him. 

My question:  is the media now happy that their incessent reporting of hate and innuendo has resulted in shooting of the member of Congress? 

In today's excitment, there has been no discussion of Sessions testimony yesterday.  I guess it is true that if it bleeds, it leads.

I don't have any doubt that the overheated rhetoric, comedians holding decapitated heads, plays about assasinating the president and so on are not helpful, but the responsibility for this lies with the shooter.  Not the gun, not the hatred of others, etc.  The guy that decided to do this is the one who is responsible. But what makes me even more sick is the response of so many left wing nuts actually celebrating what this guy did.  They are a reprehensible waste of oxygen and should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.......something I doubt they are capable of feeling.

And of course we had to hear McAuliff using this to call for gun control. Won't be long before some left wing nut blames Trump.  There is a sickness in our society.

Just last night, one of my liberal friends did blame Trump....

yes, the gun was only a method for the actions of a sick mind.  But of course, the anti-gun people will try to use this.  For me, it just amplifies the reasons that citizens need to be able to protect themselves.  Because it takes the police 10 minutes and most shootings are done in less than 5.

Not long ago had a neighbor punk who had a girl friend who locked herself in his car to avoid being raped, kid threatend to pistol whip the girl at which point I called the cops ( could hear him clearly from 3 houses away.  Told the cops that not only was the kid armed by so was I at the corner of my property.  Kid realized I was there and threated to shoot me.  I told him I was armed and if he shot he better kill me.  This was while on the phone to 911.   5 cops showed up 45 minutes after the call was made. Kid has been in and out of jail at least 10 times I know of in the last 8 years.

So yeah -- wait on the cops, it will get you killed, or they were hoping it would get worse and I would have had to kill the kid to save them from visting his house weekly.

Think they may have gotten it confused with the other shooting at UPS in San Fran.  UPS 4 killed with shooter.  Hopefully the ball field shooting will only claim the life of the actual shooter and Scalise recovers.

That is why I have a concealed carry license and always carry a Springfield XD45 with hollow stems and one already in the chamber.  I pray I never need to use it but will if I or someone I love is threatened.  Expecting the police to protect you is a fools bargain.

Been reloading since I was in diapers.  Dad loved wildcat calibers in rifles and pistols so could not get most things off the shelf.  Load rifle/pistol/shotgun - only thing I purchase off the shelf is rimfire.

My bad...I meant hollow point.  Hollow stem refers to augers we use in the environmental business to drill wells and collect soil samples. A case of halfhemiers.  :-)
