This is the type news we need to read every month. I have to assume everyone will agree with me on this one.

(Reuters) - A gauge of planned U.S. business spending recorded its largest increase in just over a year in January, suggesting businesses may be becoming more confident about expanding, while another report on Wednesday indicated the housing market is continuing to strengthen.

Orders for capital goods, excluding defense-related items and aircraft, a closely watched proxy for business spending plans, jumped 6.3 percent, the biggest gain since December 2011. Orders for so-called core capital goods had slipped 0.3 percent in December.

In other data, contracts to buy previously owned homes approached a near three-year high last month. Housing is expected to underpin U.S. economic growth this year.

I would like it more if it weren't a 6.3% increase from something other than an abysmal number but that's what we get with four years of incompetence.  Of course that will be of little comfort to the 8 million that have given up ever finding a job or the rest of the 17% unemployed or underemployed.  At  least with a boost in the housing market we can get our illegal aliens back to work.  I can see them flooding over the border as we speak.

They restated the Q4 numbers from a decline of 0.1% to an increase of 0.1% in Q4 2012!  You lefties must be so proud of the Messiah and his domestic economic policies.  FDR would be proud....
