Whats up with Lake Martin Living? I got the April one today and it says that they are merging with the real estate magazine quarterly. But the way the article is written I can't tell if they mean that they will do four issues each year with the real estate mag and do the rest of the year the regular way, or if there will only be four Lake Martin Living mags every year from now on. Its kind of confusing, does anyone know the real story? It doesn't make a lot of sense to publish a real estate mag quarterly, seems most every thing would be out of date way before the new one is supposed to come out.

the last one i picked up looked more like a realestate book. i hope they dont dicontinue the magazine. I really enjoyed reading it. I am new to the area so it has been where i've gotten most of my local info. Other than from here

I'm only guess it really means the real estate section will merge with Lake Martin Living, and the real estate section will be in lake martin living on quarterly basis.

Then i'm really disappointed.

I've been reading LML for a very long time. Hate for it to become a fat house sale b**ch.

From the Editor's Desk on page 10: "I've always heard that change is a good thing; that's what my mom always told me. I'm still not quite sure if she was absolutely right, but I think in this particular case, she might be correct.

Lake Martin Living and Lake Martin Real Estate have joined together to bring you four very special magazines. Beginning this month, and quarterly thereafter, we're combining our two different magazines to bring our reader's something extra.

Kelly Waldrop, owner of LMRE, owns several real estate magazines in different markets, but this will be a fist for him-- as well as us! We think that the combined effort of real estate listings and a beefed-up homes editorial section will make for fun and informative issues for both our readers and theirs.

For these four issues, LML is going all out on our home articles. We'll have two feature homes, several decorating articles and Dave Bradford will pull out all the stops with his popular gardening column, even throwing in a few real gardens from time to time.

Although merging two magazines is quite a big undertaking and a huge change, there's more. Look for other special sections during the upcoming year including fine arts, health, photo essays, outdoors, boating and holiday guides.

In seasonally appropriate issues, we'll give you informative and fun articles to help you enjoy your time at Lake Martin to the fullest.

And why are we doing this? Because of yoy, the readers. LML has seen tremendous growth over the years, and we owe it all to you. Consider this our gift back to you for keeping us around for 21 years.

So. thanks Mom. You're right, change is good. Especially when that change is made for the right reason. Thanks, readers, for making this change possible."

Clear as mud, but that's a Lake Martin Living tradition. Some of it sounds like LML will continue to be monthly, but four times a year it will be combined with the Lake Martin Real Estate magazine.

If both magazines are still going to be monthly, except for those four issues, then I think this is a case of letting LML piggyback with a publication that people actually still read, the LMRE. If LMRE is only going to be a quarterly, though, then it's going to be the lamest real estate guide out there. Those publications are usually outdated before they hit the stands anyway; imagine how outdated they'll be when it has been three months since the last one. (Or, imagine how stagnant the local real estate market has become if a real estate magazine can remain current while publishing just four issues per year. Ouch.)

And if LML/LMRE is now a quarterly publication, I think we've seen the last of both of them. In that case, the death of LML comes as no surprise. I thought LMRE would be around for a while, but there are several of those real estate magazines out there, and there is usually little difference between them. So, no big loss, but surprising just the same.

But the bottom line is: I'm just guessing, because even after reading that article, I have no idea what's really happening. If anyone else had better luck translating, let us know what you know!

And one final note to the editor of Lake Martin Living: the first issue was published in July of 1987. So in July of 2007, LML will have been around for 20 years, not 21.

LML will still be published every month. But, 4 times every year, (quarterly) they will add the real estate magazine.

if what you say is true, and what Mythbuster wrote is true, a whole lot of over-reacting. Because when you get right down to it, adding a real estate section every three months isn't all that much change. Can we say Drama Queen?
