I was just trying to stir a little interest in Bluegrass in the LM area. If we could get it started here and show a small serious committment then we might get a tradition like the jazz festival going. I sure like that music more than jazz which I can only take in small doses.

Country music has degerated into "cookie cutter " production music that sounds just like old rock & roll with a twang. Rascal Flatts is a perfect example of that garbage. Same old sound, chords everytime. The so-called southern country-rock has been dead since the death of Duane Allman.

Bluegrass has melowed a little from the Telluride influences and artists like Allison Krauss. It has the only creative thing going for it in all the genres of music that I see (unless you like rap). It has become the new country music by default. The interesting thing is that Bluegrass had Irish roots.

Rock & Roll is nowhere. I thought Maroon 5 was a great new example of creative rock but they made one album and went back to sleep.

Let's do Bluegrass! We might like it

I'm interested, but will need to plan well in advance of any event (unless I get lucky) because I work most weekends.

If you are looking for event ideas, I have a friend in Nashville that occasionally plays fiddle with Mark Wills, and also loves bluegrass. If you think we could set up a concert for some "less than mainstream" performers, he may be able to help.

You stole my thunder. Actually, as I listened to RF during the American Idol Gives Back show, I was thinking the same thing. What happened to country music, folk music, ballards and such. Not a kick on this generation ( or a couple back ) but they really don't know the difference because they weren't raise in it. Rap?, Crap!!!!!!
