At the APCo meeting yesterday while discussing the immediate drought situation in the state, the speaker mentioned a meeting that was held yesterday in Montgomery to discuss and gain approval to reduce water flows downstream from the Coosa and Tallapoosa River systems into the Alabama River.

Grafts showed that if flows were reduced the level of Martin would go down two feet by July 1, which is what APCo has published recently. If the flow was not reduced Martin would have a LEVEL OF 478 BY JULY 25.
THE WIZARDS DID NOT APPROVE THE REQUEST. The 478 considered no additional rain during the period--seen any rain? BTW, the level on July 4 would be 481!

I'm going to attempt to attach the Montgomery Advertiser Article.

Thanks....good article. I guess I'm sad to see the level but I'm starting to get this gnawing feeling that in a month or so a nice ugly hurricane will show up and.......

We had one like this in '88 at lanier. Water was down about 12-15 ft if I remember correctly. Fortunatelly it rained like heck that winter and the lake was full pool by spring of 89. Even ewith floating docks that could be moved in and out there were many people that could not use the lake all summer.

Ever feel like a Canary in a coal mine OSMS? The issues we discuss here will become REAL to everyone very soon. BTW, the pollution issue from the Dadeville debacle will become a much larger issue this summer. The dilution principle does not work at "winter pool" in 100 degree temperatures...it will get much worse.

Read the article above posted by Kingfish from the Dadeville Record. What a crock from Joe Smith. He has been mayor for the whole violation period and he acts like to only happened yesterday. Is this criminal negligence?

You are correct. No excuse. Neglect or malfeasance? There is a difference betweeen malfeasance and maleficent.

The current administration in Washington tries to paint a gray area in between the two and to some areas well beyond comprehension of most Americans.

I am waiting for September. Glad President Bush finally put a line in the sand.

you have GOT to stop reading the Post. Love how Pelosi, Clinton, and Obama got trapped in the Iraq Funding Bill.

I do respect you and your thoughts, but we disagree on this one. Not that I am for Clinton or any of the other Democratic Candidates.

Please do not attempt to paint me in the corner. That is exactly what Life Time Laker attempts to do. It is not an effective debate argument. It simply attempts to deflect from the main issue. You will not find me attempting these futile arguments on you or him. I give you both more respect for your intelligence of which I do respect than this. I would not attempt it on either of you in due respect. It is like the argument that you are against the war and therefore you are against our beloved troops. What Bull? Give me a name of one who has served in combat and would make this statement. Please step forward.

I simply find the current administration wrong for this Country. I am not a mental giant, but I do think I am intelligent enough to see throught the current administration and their vindictiveness, lies and smoke screens. They are true politicians to the n'th degree. They are not defenders of our freedom or democracy. They will sell us out as they currently do. Look at our National Deficit.

Like I said, we will give President Bush four more months of his promise and then decide on Irag. It will be about the third or fourth reprieve to prove himself correct on Iraq. (We can not win and it is not because of the troops). It is because of the Leadership and the strategy in Iraq. Politicans and especially not the current Commander in Chief know how to decide on or the conduct of a war. Where are we in Afghanistan? Where is the war effort It is not in Afghanistan. (My opinion)

Some of us war veterans have already decided. We will leave it to the rest of you peace keepers to decide. That is not a statement of belittlement. It is simply a view from a different perspective. I think you have served and fought as I have. It is the last thing we would wish for our Children or Grandchildren, Do you or anyone want to restart the draft? It may have to occur. Lets all share in the loss of our love ones. God Help Us.

Now might I ask, what is your intelligent reading material or newpapers if you think the Washington Post is bad or a rag? I surely hope it is not the Washington Times.

What other news publications to include the TV National publications?

I think you even said it was up to the News to bring about action even on the local front. I agree.

1. News media --if you rely too much on one source for you news and opinions, then you begin to reflect the bent and agenda of that source.

2. We certainly will try to use all of the news media to our advantage in the Dadeville situation--to make the public aware, to get our viewpoint heard and to expose the wrong doing.

3, Bush, nor any other CIC in the past 30 years can win a war, because the American public has been conditioned to expect a war without losses--on either side. We don't know what to do when faced with someone so committed to his belief that he is willing to blow himself up to hurt his enemy. The American public is not willing to kill to win, or to die to win. Harry Ried is correct, we have lost --because we have been conditioned to lose--by the likes of him. To win you have to kill the enemy into submission, like we had to do with carpet bombing German cities in WWII--we don't have the stomach for it now.

4. I kid you like I would any 'good' Yankee, nothing serious--we probably would agree on 95% of anything.

We Consider the term Yankee. I never left the South (Dothan, Demopolis, and Troy) untill I left to serve our Country in the military. I guess my service in the military and resultant homes have made me such (a Yankee).

I know you meant no disrespect, but it did bring out a bit of curiosity in the wording.

I love it when I hear there are others from different parts of the USA retiring at Lake Martin.

I think it makes for a better home for most of us.

Only the best will be there and as our neightbors most will love, respect and see the tradition of showing hospitality.

I think as times have changed most have forgotten the term and intention. They then consider other Americans as Yankees since they were not raised with them from childhood.
