I've been looking at properties online all summer and would appreciate some advice from residents on the lake. I like the proximity of Lay Lake to my home but wonder how it is as a vacation/weekend spot. Do the water levels drop in certain areas and prevent boat use from your property? Is the fishing good? Do vacant homes get broken into? Is there a fire/emergency station that serves the area? Thanks to anyone who can give me some information. Kayo

Lay Lake is a run of the river lake, so lake level does not fluctuate much at all, of course unless there is a major drought.
Lay lake is one of the finest fishing lakes in the SE.
Lay Lake is on the Coosa and if not mistaken there are limits to the amount of fish you can eat due to pollutants.
With regards to you other questions cannot answer as we do not live on Lay Lake.
