Charter is on the fringe of bankruptcy. This article explaines their frequent price hikes.

Good suggestion, but been there and did that.. after 40 minutes of call menus, tried to talk to someone I had a difficult time understanding. He/she wanted to sell another package with the porn stuff for just a few $$ more.. maybe DSL in an option? Guess I'm alone on this problem.. Will just suck it up and pay the $152

What happens to current subscribers if Charter goes under?? Cable goes Dark? I don't know, and I don't know anybody who does. I know that they have ownership?? of some type of the facilities that feed each home for services. I wonder if there is another cable company standing by to take over where Charter left off?? Without interruption of service. Who knows.

most likely it will br a chapter 11. in that case there would be no interruption in service. then instead of just screwing the customers, charter will be screwing the vendors too. maybe when they unload all of the debt, we will get some fiber at the lake with new investments.

do people put up with Charter? I get a full Dish package and DSL (both with very good service) for much less than what you are paying.

Under a reorg they continue to operate but get their suppliers and creditors off their back as they try to get on their feet and most likely agree to pay cents on the dollar to dismiss their debt.

I have told y'all my Charter story in great detail and the 1 constant with Charter is, you can't get anything done through normal channels. I took the advice of someone on this forum, sorry, can't remember who, and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and, Voila, my problems disappeared. My DSL disaster was wiped clean as well as my Cable TV bill I refused to pay because of their ineptness. I now have Dish, installed by a local co., Cablebusters, and couldn't be happier. I still don't have an option for DSL but, hopefully, that will change soon.

AT&T is getting in the TV business. Cable that is. They are slowly expanding. It would be great if they bought out Charter. My cell works great with AT&T @ the lake. It would be nice to have a bundle package with them for phone, internet and cable. I'm not into the dish yet, but my cable bill went to $210. This past month. UGH! I don't even watch TV. It's that addiction to SEC football that keeps it so high. Ha!

If only we could get Dish. The Dish people came out but unfortunately the woods behind our house would not let them locate a satellite. We are getting ready to put in internet so I think we are going to have Windstream phone (currently) and internet bundled and then have com Link cable as we can't get Dish through Windstream.

Actaully AT&T sold off all their cable business they bought from MediaOne to Comcast several years back.
They are getting in the TV business, but it is with a product called U-verse .... it is only in certain markets right now, but very cool. My wife works for AT&T and was able to see a demo. They are laying fiber optic cable to handle the bandwidth and speed it requires. But nearly all shows will be available on demand after the normal scheduled day and time. All movies will be on demand. Has all the packages like satellite, etc.
