I have attached the law that was passed almost two years ago that sets up Fire Districts in volunteer fire dept areas of Our Town and Willow Point.  If it is like Paces Point District the law will give the fire district the ability to require payment of it's annual assessment for all property owners within the "district".  We've had this law in Paces Point for years and it works quite well.  Ain't no big deal.  We pay $125.00/year which is similar to other volunteer fire dept.  Link to law is below.

Keep in mind that most areas around the lake are served by Volunteer Fire Departments.  They receive very little funding from the Counties served (perhaps a few thousand per year).  Property Taxes DO NOT include any money for these departments.  If your fire department has a fire engine, a tanker truck and/or a rescue vehicle - these were obtained primarily by fund raisers, donations, and grants.  Any amount you pay to your volunteer will serve you well in the future!

  Kind of makes you wonder what you get for the "County" taxes that you already pay.  Fire/EMS & Police should be funded through "county taxes".

They would just include the fee in the budget and raise the milage rate. Thre is no free lunch.

It's just that it was so sneaky! We here more like $1000 a year over here.
