We are new to the lake. We went to Chimney/Acapulco Rock a few days ago. Which is which? Also, the depth meter on our boat says there is no bottom on which (ha!) to sink an anchor. Do we just bob around hoping we don't bump into each other?

Facing the Rock, Chimney is the one to the left where every hangs out and jumps off is Acapulco. Ride close to the other and you will see the Chimney.
You can anchor you need a couple hundred foot rope.

Thanks! There were a bunch of Auburn college kids having a great time jumping off Acapuco Rock (did I get it right?). . Are you serious about anchoring? Do you carry that much line on your boat? I think you are joking.......(but I am not sure).

Probably not but it seems like it. 75 ft ski rope will work.

If you want to anchor out in front of the rock, he is not kidding. It is anywhere from 90-150 ft deep there. If you ease back into the cove between the two "rocks", the depths starts to decline to the 60 - 80 ft range.

I think that many people refer to Acapulco Rock as Chimney Rock. Everyone in my family does it, and we have been on the lake for 40+ years. I even saw this on a national forum once.
