This was sent out by APC to participants in the Coosa and Warrior relicensings concerning the recent press release from SLISA. Have y'all seen this?

A number of our Martin relicensing stakeholders have inquired about the status of the Coosa and Warrior license applications. As expected, FERC recently issued to Alabama Power Notices of Authorization for Continued Project Operation for the seven projects on the Coosa River (Weiss, Henry, Logan Martin, Lay, Mitchell, Jordan and Bouldin) and for the two projects on the Warrior River (Smith and Bankhead). These "annual licenses" allow the Company to continue to operate these Coosa and Warrior projects under the terms and conditions of the project licenses that expired on July 31 and August 31, respectively. The notices will soon be posted on the Coosa Warrior relicensing website.

Under the Federal Power Act, FERC is required to grant an annual license if it has not completed its application review and issued a permanent new license by the time the old license expires. Given the complexities of the modern day relicensing process, annual licenses are issued in the majority of relicensing proceedings. Since last year, FERC has made clear to Alabama Power that annual licenses would be necessary for these projects because its schedule for reviewing the applications would extend well beyond the expiration of the existing licenses. FERC's issuance of the annual licenses for both the Coosa and the Warrior projects is a routine action that enables Alabama Power to continue to operate the projects while FERC completes its review of the applications.

Should you have any questions about the status of these projects, we can discuss it further at the upcoming Martin Relicensing meetings on September 26-27 in Alex City. If you haven't already done so, please contact Viki Jackson at 205-257-2211 or VJACKSON@southernco.com and let her know which Martin Issue Group (MIG) meeting or meetings that you plan on attending. Thank you.

OK, so what happens if they do not get relicensed? They open the flood gates and go home? Someone else gets to turn dials and get revenue from generators?
