That the majority here would be in favor of us pulling out of Iraq by the middle of next year if not sooner. I was involved in the Viet Nam war and at that time I thought it was just. Today I see it totally different.
I actually voted for Mr. Bush.

I'm real glad I didn't die for nothing in Viet Nam, although in a Marine rifle company in 1966 I had lots of opportunities. We need to get out of Irag and Afghanistan and start spending that money on making ethanol and gasoline from coal.

I think I could speak for all here that served. The answer is NO. What I am saying is Viet Nam was not a justified war. !!!All political!!!. I could not see that way back then. I wonder if you ask the relatives of solders who died in that war that question and see what they say.
We were wrong to go into Iraq. The problem is no one in the power will ever admit this. I support all out troups over there 100% . We just need to pull out. We have way to many problems here and other parts of the world that need to be addressed.

Here is my vote to get out ASAP, although I realize it cannot be immediately. A major problem I have with the invasion of Iraq is I have yet to find anyone that can define winning the war in Iraq. What constitutes a win? It is not an organized enemy with uniforms where we can tell who to kill. The bad guys can just sit back for two or three months and do nothing. Have we won then? So we get cocky and declare “Mission Accomplished”. Then, at a later date they resurrect themselves. These idiots never give up. They have been fighting all their lives and their grandchildren will be fighting all their lives. We should be fighting this thing with aircraft and missiles. Not putting our soldiers lives in jeopardy every day when they have no way from telling the "good guys" from the "bad guys".

Yea it's LOT easier to tell the good guys from the bad guys from 15,000 ft at supersonic or from a missle destroyer a couple thousand miles away.

It is assinine arguments like yours that PROVE WE HAVE TO BE THERE!!

Better to fight them there than here.

Name a war that was NOT POLITICAL. WAR by it's very definition and purpose is NOTHING BUT POLITICAL!!

Back in the days of VIET NAM, you had no choice. You got drafted and did the best you could for the country. You did not think of the political part of it till later in life. Would I want to do it again ? NO. If I had to do it again ?YES. When you got your greetings from the local draft board , you did what most did, what they were told, with one exception, Casuis Clay (SP?) and the cowards that ran to Canada.

Yea we were just quashing a facsist government and an imperialistic government, both determined to gain global dominance.......

NOT POLITICAL AT ALL!!

OK Laker, but you still have not disputed my point. I agree you can’t tell the good guys from the bad guys at 15,000 feet, but you also can’t tell them from 10 feet. The Iraqi army has hundreds of the bad guys in their own ranks. They are working in the mess halls in our camps and everywhere else around our troops. At least at 15,000 feet, they can’t kill our soldiers. And how is fighting them over there keeping them from coming here? No one associated with 9-11 was from Iraq. If we want to keep the bad guys from coming over here, we had better be fighting in Saudi Arabia, since most of the 9-11 bad guys were from there. Plus that is where the money to fight us is coming from. If we had concentrated more on an air war in Afghanistan, you can bet Bin Laden would not be laughing at us now. But Cheney and Halliburton can't make a dime off blowing the tops off mountains, so Bin Laden stays free.

LTL. You have a way of twisting things around. What I meant, is was not a U.S. Political War.
As far as American History, I have forgot more than you have ever known ,or think you know. What branch of service did you serve in? If you did serve, you were probably a asset for the enemy.

Feb you three just sounded a bit like Kerry. I didn't accuse anyone. I served also and voted for Bush also but I would never give the enemy the satisfaction of knowing I thought it was for nothing. My country, right or wrong, my country. Kerry and Jane Fonda are traitors and should be run out of the country.

Lakeman, I understand where the Jane Fonda thing comes from and I am not a fan of Kerry, but I don’t understand how you label him a traitor. After all, he did volunteer for the service and was a medal winner in Viet Nam.

OK, I dont have a problem with that.....lol. I say kill them all and let God sort them out. Then Cheney and Halliburton can go in, clean up the mess, control ALL the OIL, and make KAZILLIONS OF DOLLARS!, while we buy gas for 99 cents a gallon.

"learned" from the "liberal media" that he hates so much. (Funny how people who profess to hate something so much have no problem using it when it suits their own ideals.)

Speaking of the media, did youu hear that the "fair and balanced" network repeatedly identified Mark Foley as a Democrat? Talk about twisting the facts to support an agenda!

What if I sounded like Kerry?? I thought this was a free country and I could express my thoughts without being shot down. We are still in the USA?? I still say this. Viet Nam was very wrong. One of the biggest jokes in American history. I have watched video of President Johnson being told by top Generals we were losing the war and he bull headed said we were not. He even stepped up the bombing. We were told this back then>>If we allow Vietnam to fall, tomorrow we’ll be fighting in Hawaii, and next week in San Francisco. I actually believed this back then. What a joke.
