House was totally destroyed.  I was coming out of Blue Creek and saw a huge black plume of smoke.  After we rounded the bend headed up river we could see it was a a house fire so we cruised over that way.  Fire department was on scene but all they could do was spray the house next door to keep it from becoming involved.  We were about 200 ft or so out in the water and you could feel the heat from it.  I feel for the folks.  I lost a house to fire once.  Hopefully they were weekenders as they tend to keep less sentimental belongiings at the lake.  We stayed till it was comepletely gone.  The only thing that survived is the seawall and piers.

Thoughts and prayers for the owners.

I will keep them in my prayers. Losing a house has to be a terrible thing. I hope the owners are safe.

So if your house catches fire at Lake Martin even if you live in a well developed area you will have a total loss? Sad to think about.

After firefighters and all the water damage are done,  typically a total loss anyway. Even the nicest of places on this lake are still fairly rural,  and if the neighbors are weekenders ( which most likely are) was probably fully involved before anyone ever noticed.
