I have a great idea!!  One great benefit of many elderly folks out in rural areas is Meals on Wheels.  Folks who care and can will take meals to senior citizens.  Often it is said that the folks delivering gain so much more from the program, because they are able to help others.

Well, I am suggesting a "Meals on Waves".....except it would be sorta a reverse Meals on Wheels.  I get so hungry reading about the great cooking that goes on around Lake Martin...boston butts, baby back ribs, burgers, pizza, bread.  I always wish I could participate but, alas, I am still working, and will be for awhile.

So, here's the concept:  The retired folks on Lake Martin could start a Meals on Waves program.  Cook up some of that great food, talk about it on the Grilling and Recipes forum, and then deliver to those of us who work.  I figure that about 6:30pm would be a great time to walk down to my pier and find a delicious meal waiting, and the MOW person would have gained such a satisfaction of bringing it to us.

What do you think?

P.S.  Since McGill is off work so much during the week, he would probably want to be a member of the delivering group.

Fantastic idea! They would get even more satisfaction if they included ice cold beer with the delivery.

Once again LNG you have it backwards. We (Retirees) are the ones that should benefit from your MOW. You are the working stiffs who need to be subsidizing us with BBQ and Suds.

I like it, I would even make sure the delivery person had a couple of beers in return. And if she looks good... ouch, ouch, ouch - I was just kidding sweetheart.

Since LNG lives on the Lake fulltime, he can be a WOW recipient if he will agree to set up a similar VOW program. Yep, Veggies on Waves, fresh from his garden.
Whatta' bout it, LNG?

Albeit humerous this is typical of a prevailing attitude toward seniors that assumes their time is not worth much and they will work for just a couple of bucks. In Asian societies age, experience and wisdom carrys a higher price tag. I don't think this post is personal but just a reflexive attitude.

Mack had a good point....I think we could work MOW/VOW reciprocal agreement.

In my mind I had already begun my response, but you beat me to it.  Some of us are seniors AND still working, and still worth.

Judging from the Pix of the pepper plant last year and what I can see cruising by LNG's place in Summer, one heck of a lot of work goes into that garden, on top of a long commute every day. The mater plants look just like the pepper, hanging heavy with fruit. Beautiful. Congrats LNG, you doin' good, boy.

I'm just happy knowing these working guys are paying for our healthcare and SS. Maybe we could send them thank you notes.
