A few years ago I heard a rant by Neal Boortz that some people should not be allowed to vote. Initially, I thought that Neal was way off base with comments like this.

After seeing results from elections and listening to some of the voters who participated in these elections, I'm beginning to suspect that Neal might have been right.

For example:

1. Buying and selling votes (not new)
2. Illiterate in term of history of the country. Listen to some of the interview by Jay Leno on people on the sidewalks. Some of these are recent HS graduates and do not know who the VP is.
3. This extends to Congress voting on bills that they have not read.
4. Outright untruths that are swallowed hook, line, and sinker - no attempts to investigate. If Fox News, talk radio, and the Internet were gone, the average citizen would never know the truth on some major issues. I'm referring to the Dan Rather charges against Bush and the two examples of people supposedly denied health care that Obama mentioned in the speech to joint sessions of Congress.
5. A street person that pays no taxes, contributes nothing to this country, can cancel the vote of a tax payer who is not dependent on the welfare system.
6. Voting on the basis of "what am I going to get".

Something is not right!

That's right, only the erudite people such as yourself should be allowed to vote -- and then those such as yourself will make all the laws to tell the rest of us how to live.

Who's telling who how to live? Those on the Gov't teat seem to make the rules for the rest of us unwashed wage-earners. And it is getting worse by the minute. Glad you and your man are retired and safe from the Holocaust that is to come. Have a great day and, enjoy your gov't benefits the rest of us will never see.

Isn't the idea that voters should have the ability to make informed choices and not depend on someone else to tell them how to vote?

About half of the Boortz piece I disagree with or feel is faulty logic, but the other half bears merit.

BTW, you chose to attack the messenger, which is atypical of you.

I worked long and hard for my benefits -- 14 hour days, put myself in harms way a few times, supporting our national defense, just so people like you could make a remark like that.

Yeah, I've been sick and it's left me short-tempered and mean.

Sorry Lotowner. I didn't mean to direct to you personally.

I still work 14 hour days only, not for the gov't. It's amazing to me how you gov't people think you are somewhat more entitled than us unwashed folk. Have a great day Hound.
