I would guess Senator Doug Jones (Dem-AL) has a rather tight sphincter muscle about now with the upcoming vote.  He says he will make an independent decision.  If Collins or Murkowski were to defect, would any Jones voter have any second thoughts about Roy Moore?  Can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, but if Jones wants to get elected to a full term, I think he has to vote Trump.

I imagine its not just Doug Jones that is concerned.  There are several D's in states that Trump carried who are up for election.

If Jones wants another term he will have to think about how he votes till the next election because there are plenty of non-Roy Moores next election.

Where he is hoping this goes is that there are enough GOP votes for confirmation so he can vote yes without being the difference.  Same with the other red state Dems up for reelection.  They would love to vote yes as long as theirs is not the vote that gets them over the top.  If it is, they will have tremendous pressure from the leftists to vote no and potentially commit political suicide.  If Dems were smart they would let this nomination go through, otherwise they will highly motivate the right to vote in November to increase the number of GOP Senators so they can get their nominee through.  I don't think they can see through their raging TDS to be that smart.

I wonder if Trump conveniently scheduled his trip and private conversation with Putin inorder to ask him for help getting the votes needed. You never know what Trump is thinking from day to day.

I think you stayed out in the sun to long on your vacation and cooked your brain if that is the best you can come up.

From what I have read, this guy shouldn't have any trouble being confirmed.  And you know, it doesn't matter if they are considered "conservative", once they are confirmed and on the bench, they'll take whatever position seems right to them.  And I think that is the way it should be.

And btw, if anyone is interested, I predicted he would go with a man.

Assuming that they were all equally qualified - I thought he might go with the woman if for no other reason to show the lefts war on woman live in the hearings.

Apparently Barrett did not do well in her interviews (whatever that means).  I also read that it was possible that Trump was urged to pick Kavanaugh by Kennedy and his willingness to do so was all Kennedy needed to retire.  I actually like Barrett more but her judicial resume is still pretty thin but her academic one is solid as a rock.  She is also very young and would be a great choice to replace Ruth "Buzzy" Ginsberg if they can't prop her up until Trump is gone.  I would have been happy with any of the ones on his list and the left wouldn't so it's all good.  And in the final analysis what matters most is to not lose Murkowsky or Collins and I suspect Kavanaugh met that test and Barrett did not due to Roe v Wade.

That was my prediction as well.  I do think she would be harder to confirm than Kavanaugh but both were excellent choices.

Not wishing any thing go bad with Ginshurg but reality says Trump may end up with the opportunity to fill her seat in his 2nd term. That would be entertaining to watch the left go more nuts (if possible) if he put Barrett up then.
