I have often believed there is a college course for these young ESPN sideline commentators ; now i am convinced there is one for young 22-25 yr old political commentators//campaign spokespersons ! they barely look old enough to vote ; where do the stations get these "experts "

They are one of the hoards of young people who, having graduated from grad school, head for Washington and use their connection to get a job as a talking head.   And if you wonder about that, my casual observation when I worked in DC was that the average age for an NSC staff was 26.  Sometimes I would go to meetings  over there (I was in my late 40s), and I would be the oldest person in the room.   Susan Rice, the current National Security Advisor was a Department head at State in her late 20s. 

And the scarier thing is that all seem to think they should be in charge.

Yea at age 26 my son in law was chief of staff for a U S Senator but he had PhD & didn't do interviews on talk show

He was lucky enough to get a very good job. Surprisingly at such a young age.  Chiefs of Staff on the Hill are pretty powerful and generally speaking, go to more mature people.  He must have had very good connections.

  I think some are drawn to the spotlight and some aren't.  I know a lot of people that work for think tanks and some of them really are experts, yet they don't turn up on TV as a talking head.   I have to say that I am always a little skeptical of anyone that says they are an "expert" on anything, particularly when they are working in DC and particularly at a young age.  A lot of time, people's "expertise" only comes because they wrote a paper on something in grad school or wrote a white paper for their boss.
