.... directed right here at home. Not at the dredge a hundred miles away. This is something that could be changed, should be changed, and is outrageuos that it hasn't been changed. Everyone seem so be making demands that folks all over the southeast change their behavior in order to 'conserve our water', but change begins at HOME.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Thanks for posting! Now I will refrain from bashing the locals as I know it will only inflame you and I again but you rightly point out an incredible fact. Float a barge but don't ban outdoor watering...that makes sense! Thanks for posting!

You know the old saying that a 1000 mile journey starts with the first step...this is probably a time for several first steps........personal conservation at our home and business..........education of our families and business associates and our family and our friends.........call your mayor and state Rep and Senator and suggest it's time for a state Water Conservation Act in Al that will deal with the water issue in respect to farmers, urban, industry and recreational use, and get all like minded organizations including the HOBOs to push for the same thing. I was amazed that at my Marietta home it took 3 gallons of running water before the water would warm up, I now catch that and pour it on my shrubs and trees. I also catch the condensation from dehumidifiers in the basement and water my plants so as to avoid using tap water. Let's don't just bitch for someone else to do something, let's take that first step.

That is crazy... We live in Autauga County and have been under water restrictions for months now. But yet those who live closest to the lake have not... Are the commissioners insane or just plain dumb? How could they not impose a restriction? Were they worried that the grass in front of City Hall might die? I can not believe this.

This is an instance where they DESERVE bashing!! I did not realize until I read that today that no restrictions were in place. Just INCREDIBLE!! There is NO EXCUSE for asking everyone else to suffer (conserve) if they are not willing to lead by example. One would think that they would be at the forefront of ALL conservation efforts.

The only rationale I can come up with is that when you see all that water in the lake everyday it is hard to fathom it running out. But that is still NO EXCUSE. Had restrictions been in place in the spring would they be having to spend the thousands of dollars to reroute the intakes now? Maybe, maybe not, but it sure has fired me up this morning.

HERE IS WHAT HE SAID (HOBO OUTRAGE SHOULD BE)
.... directed right here at home. Not at the dredge(WHO DIRECTED OUTRAGE AT A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT?) a hundred miles away. This(TO WHAT DOES "THIS" REFER )is something that could be changed, should be changed, and is outrageuos that it (TO WHAT DOES "IT" REFER?)hasn't been changed. Everyone(WHO IS EVERYONE?) seem (IS THIS THE WRONG TENSE OR ANOTHER WORD USED INCORRECTLY?)so be making demands that folks all over the southeast change their behavior in order to 'conserve our water', but change begins at HOME. WHY MUST CHANGE BEGIN AT HOME?

HAVE YOU DONE ANY RESEARCH THAT SHOWS THAT THE LOCAL POPULATION HAS NOT ON ITS OWN (WITH OUT THE NEED FOR RESTRICTIONS, ) JUST CUT WATER USAGE, LIKE THE PEOPLE OF SYLACAUGA HAVE?

HAVE YOU DONE ANY RESEARCH THAT DETERMINES THAT CONSERVATION AT HOME WOULD BE ANYTHING OTHER THAN DE MINIMIS ? WOULD DRINKING LESS WATER REALLY HELP?

DOES NOT MOST OF THE WATER USED LOCALLY IN HOMES AND BUSINESS GET RETURNED TO THE LAKE?

WHO WOULD MANDATE TO WHOM WHAT WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE?
WOULD IT BE YOUR "THEY"?

YOU SHOULD LEARN TO REASON BEFORE YOU TYPE.

JUST BECAUSE SOME IDIOTIC THOUGHT ENTERS YOUR MIND DOES NOT MAKE IT A FACT, OR EVEN A GOOD IDEA.

YOU MUST HAVE GONE TO THE JUNIOR COLLEGE OR SOME ONE OF THOSE LESSER STATE UNIVERISTIES. IF YOU EVEN WENT TO SCHOOL AT ALL. YOU ARE FROM CHILDERSBURG. DID YOU ATTEND NUNNLY?

THAT COULD EXPLAIN THINGS

too funny.....Alex City should have placed restrictions months ago....too little too late....I live in middle georgia and right now we are under no restrictions at all......my good friend lives in Atl and he can't wash his car or the city will ticket him....I can run as much water as I choose out into the street with zero issues....my neighbors do it every night watering the grass and it pisses me off when the rest of the state is suffering along with Alabama.....you folks that live out there have my support as I'm trying to conserve here and all around me is waste.....

Thanks Fester. the problem is,just like your neighbors, most people do not think about their actions. Unless the law states they have to.

Dredge is NOT a piece of equipment...it is a process.

that may have been correct years ago, however, dredge is a verb that has turned into a noun and other parts of speech.

you can see a picture of two different pieces of equipment that are called dredges at this site

It's amazing how much water is drained from an ice machine as well. This is excellent water for the plants and easy to capture. There are some new products out there that catch roof rain water and store in a sealed container to keep mosquitos out. They sell these in the wholesale commercial garden magazines. Birmingham just got its first " Green" public building.
