Subject:   Should we move to Lake Wedowee?

My wife and I have retired and are looking for lake front living, boating, and fishing. Lake Wedowee sure looks nice, but I wonder about the other choices nearby (Weiss, Hartwell, etc). We would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks,
George

We have a place on Lake Wedowee and really enjoy it. We are there every weekend during the spring, summer and fall. Very clean lake. The holiday weekends are crazy busy, BUT nothing like Alatoona, Lanier, or Hartwell. The non-holiday weekends are great, you can enjoy water sports and fishing all day long.. Week days are very quite and peaceful. Only problem I have is the genius' at Alabama Power lower the lake 8 feet in the early fall and keep it lowered until mid April. Our place is on seasonal water so we are dry in the winter months at our dock. Hope this helps!

Thank you, Rabbit Run, for the info. Just what I was interested in. So, there are some deep water lots and others, like yours, which have seasonal access?

Lake Wedowee has a lot of deep water lots. We bought seasonal water because it was in our budget. I would like a deep water lot and house one day. We really do not go over to Wedowee in the winter time so the seasonal water is ok. If I was looking for a retirement home I would look for year round water. The area around the dam is very nice. Deep clear water.

it is a wonderful lake, but no marina centrally located for service or supplies. One marina located on north end of the lake. I heard that Reynolds Plantation was looking to put a marina on Lake Wedowee....
