Certainly they wil prevent anybody getting close to jumping off the rock now.
Who would want to jump after seeing or hearing about the tradegy.
I still fear the fire works display that is major waiting to happen with all the boats and stuff people that are inexperienced with the pontoon boats being overtaken with the big waves after the show is over with. It is like the gulf.

I go to Church with one of the Water Patrol Officers (Gary Buchannon). He said there was nothing they could do about people jumping off the rock. He said he has worked at Martin for 11 years and that was the first death he has seen at the rock. He said there have been alot of people hurt there but that was the only death.
Also, i have been in the situation of a Pontoon Boat being overtaken by huge wakes at the Fireworks. I had about 10-12 people on the boat and the boat took a Nosedive. I was scared that someone was gonna run over us from behind, but luckily we made it through unscathed. Needless to say, that was the last time i have gone all the way past The Rock to watch the fireworks.
