or alcohol.

CAN YOU NAME ONE DEATH ON LAKE MARTIN IN THE LAST 20 YEARS IN WHICH SPEED WAS THE PROXIMATE CAUSE OF THE DEATH?

I DID NOT THINK SO.

MAYBE IT IS STUPID THAT KILLS, MAYBE THE SAME PEOPLE WHO JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS THAT IT IS SPEED WHEN IT COULD BE MECHANICAL FALURE ETC ARE THE ONES WHO KILL.

MAYBE IT IS PEOPLE WHO CAN'T PRONOUNCE "ENOUGH"

what does this have to do with Lake Martin? Do we have speed boat races on the lake? Seems like a very odd post. What message are you trying to send? Who are you trying to reach with this post?

This is without a doubt, the most asinine post that I have ever seen on this site. Speed is not what killed this fellow, enjoying life was. He was condemned to death when he was conceived and it sounds like he was enjoying a hobby when he died. If you are stopped at a light on 280 and are run over by 80,000 lbs. of truck because the driver goes to sleep or is talking on the phone to their significant other, does that mean that the lack of speed kills? As the great philosopher Jimmy Buffett says “I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead”. Go ahead and live in your sheltered life without any danger, fearing what might happen, waiting for death to take you, I will be enjoying mine. A friend lost a child to cancer last month at the age of ten years, one month, and twenty-three days – but he could find solace in the fact that Austin enjoyed those days doing what he loved – hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. I learned from that child and I hope that I am that fortunate.

Enough said.

Point in fact that people should not have dogs as family pets.

This post is rather silly as I assume the point is that fast boats are dangerous. Well, duh! Of course they are dangerous, as are fast planes flown low, fast cars on a highway and fast living.......well, anywhere. Not to mention rock climbing, which by the way is slow. And then there's binge drinking, which I guess is fast. Don't forget running with the bulls in Spain.....actually there you don't really want to be slow.... How about getting into a taxi in New York city.....or worse yet, standing in front of a taxi in NYC. Remember, no one gets out of here alive......well, maybe one guy.

Don't give up on LM!! Especially because of the posts that we make on this Forum.
LM has faults, not many, but, some. And, yes, some of us on the Forum scream about topics that affect us, like, Fast Boats, Wakes, Pollution, Development, Boating Accidents, WaveRunners, Russell, Obama/McCain/Hillary, APCO, etc, etc.
I don't know know why you are on LM.
But, I am here for the late afternoon cruises and sunsets.
I am here for the crystal clear clean water. And, a really good feeling of relaxing at last.
If you are not enjoying those things, maybe you are missing the best of the "Best Lake in Alabama".

How can we hook a tube to one of those boats?

Suction cups probably won't hold for those fast runs, might want to tie off to one of the cup holders. Sounds like you want to be the tube meister of the lake. :-)

Kevin was a fellow boater and Frequent Poker Run attender. He truely loved boating. He had a small sign on the dash that read "Everyone dies, but only some really live". I assume that meant he really enjoyed life. (so I was told) His Skater (exactly like mine) was named "Pammy". It had Pamela Anderson airbrushed on the top/bow. It was a beautiful boat. As the article says, it was an organized Poker Run (Raising money for charity as most are). The organizers try to make the run and coarse as safe as possible, keeping spectators/enthusiast at distance and staggering the fleet at the start in waves. And, adding additional MP's. I'm sure these events bring additional monies to the local economy. Many, including me and my family travel many miles to attend these events and enjoy friends with common interest. It's terrible to loose a life. Sad day. May he rest in piece.
