Anybody know about the airplans crusing the skys over the lake Saturday? I enjoyed watching them. Were they practicing for a air show or just having fun. They flew around in different formations it seemed. Then I think there were a couple of P51's a little later.

Don't know what kind of plane they were but they were practicing Friday and Saturday. Four of them most of the time. They were in such a close formation, at times it looked like one long plane. They definitely were a team that has spent many hours flying together.

Saw these planes also. They appeared to be russian YAK 24s. If so, they are imported acrobatic aircraft used for competion and fun flying. I'm led to believe that Ben R. has one hangered here abouts and friends fly theirs in for fun and games. I have also seen them at the Wetumpka airport doing demos and formation flying shows.Missed the P51 if it was here. Great airplane and probably one of the most important aircraft of world war two.The 8th AF would have lost a lot more bombers and men had it not been for the long range escort capabilities of the P51 Mustang.

Didn't see them, but there is a group at Wetumpka and another at Reeves in Tallassee.
The ones in Wetumpka frequently formation fly in a flight of four.
