Today I  was called to lake about my house broken into. I am off Coosa 20 on Ivy Shores Lane an it seems at least 5 were hit this weekend and there have been over 15 hit off Coosa 20 in the last week. My place they took 3 flat screens and a play station. The sheriff dept is trying to catch but if you see someone that don't look right get details and call sheriff's office.

There have been at least two breakins just off Hwy 34W, just south of Dadeville on the lake.  Both houses were weekend houses.  Everyone should be on the lookout for strange vehicles on the lake roads and driveways.  While we think we all know we live in Paradise, trouble can be closer than we're aware of.  The Auburn football player's murder suspect was arrested today in Dadeville......

Three houses across the slough from us were broken into last Sunday/early Monday (we're off Coosa 20 too)  I undertand that computers, TVs and jewelry were taken.

If you are in the area and have an alarm system, you may want to make sure that you are setting it.

Found out this morning that our place was successfully targeted by the December Xmas bandits.  Took 4 Tvs and a couple fo guns. We will be ready next time around. 10 years and this was our first. Coosa County Sheriff will prevail.

My place has been "violated"  4 times in 24 years. Short of deploying deadly traps for burglars ( for which YOU will go to jail not the bad guy) good luck preventing this problem. Other than a Mercruiser Outdrive stolen from my old boat inside my boathouse, tracked and sold as a repair job in Destin ($4000) about 15years ago,,, the other breakins have been mostly a nusiance.

They steal stuff they can pawn/sell quickly. Flat screen TV, electronics, GUNS are always good. And the damage they create breaking in is always more than the value of what they steal!!

Had Long talks with Coosa Cty Deputies over time on this,, they don't have a chance to prevent it. Coosa is the number 2 poorest county in Alabama(Dallas #1). Sheriff has 4 cars total. To cover a huge area. 2 on,,, 2 off??? Impossible.

So, deploy alarms and especially Cameras to capture and PUBLISH pix of these jerks. Cover your own property as best you can, because your law enforcement folks just cannot..

Question on video surveillance.  How does one set it up so that the perps don't just find the recording device and take it with them too?  We have HS Internet.  Could pics and/or video be streamed to an off-premise loction like our primary residence or maybe someone who offers storage as a service?

There are many systems available at a fairly low cost that work with internet connections. I also suggest using some deer cameras around the property.

I use Belikn WiFi cameras which record and email me photos when motion is detected. These work and are not too expensive . Mine went off at 12:20 last night when the sheriff pulled in my drive. It is just a matter of time until these crooks are caught.

Good to know that the Sheriff is active.  Problem is that there are so many small streets and so few deputies.

Last night there appeared to be someone over at my neighbors house and DH went out to check on it.  Turned out nothing ominous, but it pays to check.

Hi All,

For those interested in installing a surveillance system, I installed this system at my Lake Martin house and love it!  The motion alarm immediately sends me a text message with photo and of course it records everything to a dvr that I can view remotely.

I see it on sell at Amazon for $350.  It has 8 cameras with night vision and 1TB hard drive.  Let me know if you have any questions on installation and setup.  Attached is an alarm text notification photo of a squirrel I received today.

Do you know someone who could install for a fee?

Hi, I installed this system myself and can answer most questions. However, I do use Ken Rase "Plumbing and Electrical" out of Eclectic for all my wiring.  Each camera comes with 65 feet of cable and you can buy more if needed. I have cameras all over my property inside and out including one that points at the entrance gate to my driveway.
