I have just finished chating with my wife and children. We have decided to take "Farmboys" advice and go to the "Chicken Auction" friday night. He spoke of it at lunch the other day, and I have heard of it before. I need a few ducks for the pond anyway. I call an official meeting this friday night, led by "Farmboy" held in the parking lot tailgating before the auction. If anyone can find details on the start time please post. Otherwise, I'll be in the parking lot with a BIG cooler of beer getting ready to bid on some chickens. Seriously. This could be WAY fun. Bigfoot, I know you live pretty close by. Bring your note pad. LMAO.

..not close by..but close enough to attend a chicken auction with tailgating..I do know where the Do It Center is...and I might need to read that on the building to keep my courage up...just DO IT !

It starts at 7PM. Get there by 6 if you want to drink and shmooz. All the critters are lined up at the shed roof for inspection before the auction. The seats are old couches and school bus seats and school desks from the 20's. Bring a jacket, The do have propane incubates ruining in the rafters and wall heaters ruining but it can be cold by the doors. Also they have Hot dogs, Sausages and other things like chips and pop corn. They have drinks. If you take beer, put it in a cup and be discreet. Don't take beer cans in. They start with a prayer and the fun begins. You will love it. Be set for bidding frenzy's. I have seen proven games go for $80. Take your time. The first time should be as a spectator only. Get a feel for the rhythm so you don't get clobbered in your bid. Take a cage if you do want to buy. You can take the critter back to the truck or keep it in a cage with you. You pay at the end and the line can be long. You must get your own critters from the table when you buy them. No one will carry them for you. Have fun see you all at the Chicken Sale.

Wow ..... this is unreal . Who would have thought that you guys would really Go ! I am excited . I am suppossed to go to TouchDowns Fri nite in Auburn to hear Big Earl.(of Flora Bama fame) If I can not make it Nancy Christine knows the drill . You guys will have a ball I promise . Anytime I have out of town guest if there is any way to make it to the auction we do . I almost always see someone I have not seen in yrs. Big Fun !

Some people have them as pets.Some people use them for eating or what ever. I enjoy hearing that Rooster crow in the am We have around 15 laying hens and a rooster. We eat the eggs and the chickens are fun to watch. We also have ducks , turkeys, a peacock, llama , donkeys , cows and goats.I serve as a kinda do whatever guy on a 350 acre place we call The Farm.The owner is a great guy and I enjoy being a part of it all .I am blessed to have such a great situation.
