It is going to cost you and your children crushingly more for poorer healthcare. More importantly... it's going to cost you a HUGE chunk of freedom.

"...life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"... what does that mean to you? Is is within your authority to give it away for your children?

Actually I was being sarcastic when I said "just give out the money" I think our system has gone to the dogs.

says our math is wrong and that it is ONLY $92,000 per job.

Now I am starting to see the problem ... when they divide $150 billion by 650,000 and they get $92,000 ... no wonder we have these deficits and they don't seem to care. Their math is wrong.

Even if it was $92,000 per job ... it is appauling that they find that acceptable when that money could have been used to really stimulate the economy that would have save an additional 3 million people from losing their jobs.

They just don't get it ... they want to say this is an accomplishment when in all my years i have never seen an administration say they are saving, let alone creating jobs when the net loss each month is as great as it is. It is insulting to those losing their jobs. What made those 650,000 jobs, even if they were saved through the wasteful spending of tax payers dollars ... more important than the millions of other jobs that have been lost due to poor policy decisons?

I agree, but don't blame the dogs. You need to blame the elephants and donkeys.

Tell me when in the last 50 of my 62 years of life it has been any different. PLEASE TELL ME WHEN!

I would like to live another 20 years (I have seen both parties' sqander and corruption), and I doubt it will change within that era.

Everyone is wasting their time complaining on this Forum. You and and all us would would be best served by spending our energy complaining to our so called "Represenatives".

Please provide me the name of a single Congressman or Senator you would trust to do the best for the Country as opposed to the good of their party or personal gain.

I bet I will not hear a single name. I can not provide one, and that goes for either party.

You slopped a bibbful on that. Today I can't think of a single one in either house of either party. But, I do think that it was different 30 years ago. Remember people like Everett Dirksen and Sam Rabun?

1) Complaining on the forum? It is debate, exchange of ideas, and intellectual stimulation which refine rational thought. Despite some of the inane and distracting personal exchanges between some of the contributors on this forum, I want to participate. I desire my position to be either confirmed or corrected. I discern that there are smart folks on this forum… perhaps I have something to learn… in my golden years.

2) I cannot condone cynicism – for it is the rattle of defeat. Rather than surrender in the dark, one should always look to thrive in the light. We are looking… I hope… for light on this forum.

Keep looking but if you really seek to find light (enlightenment) please search far and wide beyond this forum because you wont find much here.

I don't share your completely cynical view but I understand it. I think my congressman from Georgia (Mark Price) is a pretty good guy. He is a doctor and is not overly partisan but is very conservative and does a good job defending his views. I think there are also a number of good Senators like Kyle, Coburn, etc. There are also several on the left with whom I disagree politically but are not overly partisan, like Lieberman.

The problem in our perspective is in the media coverage and those that tend to gravitate to the leadership. There are a lot of good men and women in office that take the job seriously and go about their business every day. The press will always gravitate to the most controversial or those that gravitate to the microphone searching for glory rather than doing the people's business.
