I'm heavy into the pontoon shopping. Unfortunately, I haven't found the exact boat I'm looking for (yet), but there are some good deals out there on slightly used boats. One option is a 22' 08' Bennington (w/ lifting strakes) and a 150 4 stroke. Another is an 23.5' 07' Premier with a 200 4 stroke(no lifting strakes). I was planning to stay in the 225+ range for HP, but would appreciate comments from folks with similar formats to the boats mentioned above. I know I won't get 50+ with these boats, but at a minimum I would like to cruise comfortably at 35+ without running wide open and still be capable of somewhere between 40-50 on top end.

The Bennington sounds about the equivalent of my SanPan. Lifting stakes and 150 HP. Assuming the two boats are pretty much equivalent, then you max MPH with two to three on board is going to be about 45 MPH. I would not think you would want to run a boat at max speed for significant portions of its operation. Now if you want to run 30 to 35 MPH, then you might consider the Bennington.

Otherwise, you might be smarter to go with a more powerful boat. Just my guess and less than knowledgeable opinion.

Check out this link
www.boatinglife.com/article/Reviews/Crest-2570-Caribbean-SS
I purchased a Crest from Harbor Point Marina with a 300hp suzuki 4 stroke (While a 496 sounds cool - the noise drove me crazy - the Suzuli is Quiet & has a 6 year warrenty
Not only does it have lifting strakes, the tubes are shaped,
Also has a wake board tower for pulling

I think they have some with 250 hp as well

Per Yamaha's website Bennington 2275 with 150 - top speed 37.8 MPH

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/assets/products/otb/bulletins/bulletin_4stroke_hpv6_rel_sab7a1.tmp.pdf

Check out Yamaha's, Honda and Suzuki's websites and most have performance test based on diff size engines and diff pontoon manufacturers.

Check your email as sent you a spreadsheet that is most like accurate within 4 MPH in terms of WOT speed all you need is boat weight, engine HP and weight and then based on a baseline calc the spreadsheet calcs estimated top speed and this is what I used to gauge the top speed when I was looking for a tritoon.

one other thing you might want to consider is uphostery hunt up the ones you are seriously considering that are 4-5 years old and look at what condition they are in. when you purchase one only use starbrite products and by all means use the protectant that starbrite sells. none measure up to a bennington

While it is indeed hard to stretch 4 good months to cover all 12, that is not the issue here. The developer has been foreclosed on, not Christopher.
Article said Dadeville Courthouse auction Dec 11. Should be interesting to see who/if someone buys.
