So sad today. Hotel Talisi has been burning since approximately 3am. It is a total loss.....Some really great local folks put a lot of work into reburbishing it. It caught fire from a building behind which caught fire. A wonderful couple who moved from Minnesota were living in and managing the hotel. They got out with their lives Thank GOD, however, they have lost everything including their jobs and insurance. We will be taking donations to help this young couple out. This is truly a sad day for so many folks. We just had lunch there last week and were so happy that Hotel Talisi had reopened. The owners are friends of mine and I can't imagine how hard this must be for them.

They had insurance on the contents of the building but not the building due to the astronomical cost of insuring an historic landmark....The couple who lived there will hopefully get something out of the insurance however, I imagine nothing will come forth until all investigations into the origin of the fire have been completed. For right now, they are without everything they owned except the pajamas they were wearing. Health Insurance is another issue altogether which is what I was speaking of in previous post. They were required to be employed 90 days for benefits to kick in, the Hotel was open 3 weeks. Thanks to all who have come forth to help them - there are truly wonderful people out there and it restores my faith in human-kind. Thank You!

It was just announced on the local news that they've arrested a 17 year old for the fire. Looks like arson charges are being considered.

This is indeed a sad ending to a great place. Had many meals there over 4 decades. I'll be contributing to the re-establishment and well-being of it's proprietors.
