"The monstrous mountain of toxic pustules sprouting from greasy boils metastasizing from malign carbuncles that passed the Senate on Christmas Eve..."

Steyn is both funny and on target. Having lived through the Canadian health care system he is well acquainted with what we are going to face, except he thinks it will be even worse here. He has also made the point that this takeover is more of a watershed than many realize. Why else are Obama/Reid/Pelosi willing to go against 60% of the American people and risk big losses in 2010 and 2012? Because they know that once a majority of Americas rely on the government for their health care and have nowhere else to go it will change us from a country that votes center right to a country that votes center left.

Thanks all you moderates and independents that took a chance on hope and voted for the Messiah. You are to blame and it will be your sad legacy........

It's hard to imagine that this legislation (considered by many to be the worst to ever come out of the Senate) actually passed. But then, it was hard to imagine that Barack Obama could actually be elected POTUS.

I used to think o-BAMA was an idiot, but now I realize he is what he is; the idiots are the idiots who voted for him.

republicans who were unable to put together a presidential ticket that appealed to a majority of the voters. You lost it more than Obama won it.

but you feel just a little foolish for voting for a socialist, marxist, low life, who is determined to destroy America.

You are joking again ... right? While McCain was not my first pick ... he has more leadership and experience in his pinky than Obama has. As for the VP candidate, Palin also has more experience and leadership than Obama and Biden put together. I know you have a difficult time accepting women in leadership roles ... especially those that have the accomplishments and strong leadership like Palin.

GF will never admit that. He will not even say what Obama has done good for america or accomplished that is positive. He just continues to blindly support a socialist that is destroying our country.

Bob, like you, this whole thing sickens me. The next few years will determine which history lessons we relearn.

Is our Constitution written well enough to survive this desecration? Will the Supreme Court apply justice to send this bill to the burn barrel where it belongs and administer a stinging rebuke to the Legislative branch? Will a miracle happen and lawyers actually do something patriotic? Will the American people awaken in time to get the bleeding goose to the veterinarian in time to save its waning life?

Look how Europe flounders and pulses like a giant yellow star in its last throws. This is the current track for us. I am not talking about the “romantic” Europe. I lived over there for five years of my life. It was nice… but Europe is like America as much as monochrome is to Kodachrome.

As soon as a democratic society finds that it can vote benefits for itself from the largesse of the government, that society will vote itself out of democracy.

Despite the flaws of the Republican ticket, I maintain and you could never convince me to the contrary, that it was abundantly obvious to anyone with a brain (unless you are a loony leftist) that they were a far cry better than the pair we got (The Socialist and the Dunce). Republicans did not vote for Obama/Biden. The idiot independents and moderates did. You see, that is how an election works, the people who voted for the candidate that wins actually are to blame for the end result (its simple math really). It is just plain stupid to take the greater of two evils just to punish one party for only providing the lesser of two evils. How about punishing the Dems for giving us the greater of two evils by voting for McCain?

So you are wrong about Republicans being idiots and I am right about independents and moderates that voted for Obama being the idiots.

Right on, MartinMan!

Revenge is seldom sweet... but, more often is revenge a regrettable loss of self-restraint at a time when self-restraint is most required.

One should ALWAYS vote for the candidate, regardless of political party, whose ideals and ethics are true to your own. One should NEVER vote for a third party for the sake of punishing another particular political party.

..and, if you cannot discern a candidate’s platform, don’t vote for him or her. Don’t vote for anyone simply because someone else to you to vote that way. The ignorant should not be allowed to vote.

We are now in a terrible mess because revenge and ignorance got the best of the voting populace.

the right for not nominating Romney. A candidate with the experience Obama lacked. A former govenor and successful businessman. No, can't nominate Romney they said cause he is a Morman. And so, they went down to defeat by having to vote for someone they did not really want but who was the lesser of two evils.
Speaks well of the Republicans and the right.

As to woman in politics, I have a daughter who I told as a child she could grow up to be whatever she wanted to be. One day I received a call from her school asking for permission for her to try out for the wrestling team at 112 lbs. As she said "Dad you said I could be anything I wanted and I want to follow in your footsteps and be a wrestler like you were in school". I had and stll have no negative feelings toward Palin because she is a woman as Water Man likes to say. I admire what she has accomplished. Just can't see her as President no different than the right feels about Obama and Biden.

Hey MM. interesting that Chambliss and Miller both voted for the 2003 Prescription D but you continued to vote for Chambliss. So much for standing up for your core beliefs. Cheers.

to make no sense. During the election, I do not ever recall you saying you were supporting Romney in the primaries or you would have voted for Romney if he was the nominee. Point us all to your posts that said that. My recollection is your have been an Obama supporter out of the gate and always bashing republicans and the right. Now that you are seeing the disaster created ... (you agree it is a disaster - correct?) .... since if you didn't you would be telling us about all the great accomplishments .... now you are back peddling blaming the disaster we now have with Obama and the socialists on the republicans for not nominating the right individual.

You are a joke. Be a man and have some honor.

I agree about Romney as I voted for him in the primary but your point is still wrong. First, I am not convinced Romney would have beaten Obama anyway. There was just too much of a headwind for the Republican ticket but conjecture is useless because he wasn't the nominee and the loony left along with independents and moderates gave us our current mess.

As for your last point, I have always maintained that it is better to take the lesser of two evils and while I was not thrilled with Chambliss for that vote or his initial stance on amnesty for illegals masquerading as immigration reform but if you look at the recent ratings from various organizations he was not perfect but a far cry better than the leftist he ran against. To wit:

NARAL 0%
National Right to Life 100%
Tax Reform groups 80% to 90%
Chamber of Conference 100%
ACLU 15%
American Conservative Union 76%
NEA F
NRA A+

You see GF, unlike the independents and moderates that voted for the statist troika of Obama/Reid/Pelosi I am an adult and realize that more than half a loaf is much preferred over no loaf at all. That is what adults do. Children frequently cut off their noses to spite their faces because of immaturity and a lack of wisdom. I have no problem with my vote for Chambliss. I would prefer a more consistently conservative candidate but I will take him any day over what the Dem's send my way. You see, all I have is my vote as I don't sit in the smoke filled rooms and pick candidates. I do my research and make informed, rationale decisions, sometimes even voting for one Republican when I would have preferred another, more conservative one.

Reread what I wrote. You have repeatedly written that Obama lacks experience. I agree with you. My point was that the best candidate with experience for the republicans was Romney but your party rejected experience.

You are so he** bent on insults that you never read what is written before you reply. You need a course in reading comprehension.

While I feel Romney had a decent fiscal conservative track record as govenor ... I do not think he had a depth of overall experience as McCain ... especially in a time of war. And we are at war and will be for some time, because you have radicals that want to destroy our freedoms and make the whole world Islamic. Between Romney and McCain ... I would say McCain was more experienced and the better leader, even though he is not as fiscally conservative as I would like.

You need to read better and be more consistent in your posts.

The outrageous thing you just said was that you agree Obama lacks experience ... yet you voted for him. At a period of time we had a banking crisis mainly (not 100%) caused by democratic policies and refusal to regulate programs that were creating the bubble (CRA) ... and while the country was at war.

Now that was real smart of you wasn't it .... all because you thought the republicans did not nominate the right person ... but both were far more experienced and proven leaders than Obama. WOW !!!

You just have a problem with the truth. Obviously, Obama lacked the experience. Would you feel better if I spouted some rehetoric that Obama had the experience? But, the truth is no one is prepared to be President. He kept Gates on to provide continuity at Defense. You fail to recognize that.

I voted for the best prepared person for the position and he lasted only one term... President Bush 41.

To continue that the team of McCain and Palin had the experience is just not factual. I alway admired McCain the maverick, but he just made the wrong choice for VP. We can argue forever and the right thinks Palin is the answer to their prayers. She is like Bush 43 in her thought process that it comes down to gun control, abortion, and smaller government. The country was ready for a change. In 2012, you will have another chance for change.

Remember, the firt bailout was under Bush and McCain supported it.

bailout and publicly supported it. But I suppose he gets a pass but Bush and McCain are solely to blame. GF, you are just never going to admit that Obama has been a bust and that's OK. All we need is for the independents and moderates that took a hope on change to figure out their error in 2010. As we see with the free fall in the Messiah's numbers it is happening faster than with any other President in their first year in office. Some people will eventually see the light and the rest are lost in the dark with blinders on and their eyes closed. You stay behind while the others figure this out.
