Did anybody actually listen to JP's Sunday appearances. I did. Well she did say "The system worked" but the sentence before that was "after the incident occured". Almost immediately after th attempt world wide security was tightened, planes in the air were notified, the perp was subdued and arrested. The overall system which has been in place and evolving for 8 years obviously failed as it has before and will again unless we want to become a police state isolated within a fenced off island nation.

Sounds good. Gee did I take that out of context. Maybe you need to clarify it.

I feel better now.. This guy, reported by his father as an extremist to the Department of State, still holds a passport, visa and passed thru the screening system to get to Detriot. His mission to blow up a jet with 300 men, women and children, fails because he screwed up?? We lucked out on this one dude, and it will get a lot worse, if we fail to recognize that a 22 year old Muslim, without checked baggage, paying cash for a one way ticket to Detriot should be screened as a typical flier, we have a problem..

You seem to think I am Archie. I assure you I am me and only me.

As to the the plane incident, I dont think it has to do with who is President but rather a breakdown within the agencies. A monumental screw up which shows that the system and procedures implemented under Bush still needs refinement. It was was a real wake up with no lose of life. God was with us this time. I assume you are aware of this holdup by Sen. Jim Demint, (R) South Carolina.

"One of the country's most important national security posts remains vacant. A single senator is holding up confirmation of the man nominated to head the Transportation Security administration.

50,000 Transportation Security officers screen, inspect, question, and observe at the nation's airports to keep dangerous people and items off planes. Senator Jim Demint believes giving them collective bargaining rights would hurt security."

Currently, State Department issues visas, which, following 9/11, should become the exclusive province of DHS. State is charged with "schmoozing", DHS is charged with domestic security. A confirmed Baggage Handler in Chief would have no impact on the latest attempt by the terrorists to kill us. The only thing that saved those folks was ordinary people recognizing a threat, and acting on it, not waiting and wailing for the government to save them. They took personal responsibility for their futures. I know, personal responsibility, and accountability, is a concept foreign to the left. Beyond forum posts, leftist followers are easily identified. They are the folks stranded on a stopped escalator, hollering for help.

Archie. Nice try but the fact is the system did not work before or after the event. I read an article this morning where the airline pilots association has complained that its pilots were not informed of the terrorist attempt on the Delta flight until long after their flights were completed. Janet Incompetano should be fired just like Brown was canned from FEMA after Katrina (yes, I know he "resigned" but we all know why).

I will repeat my earlier post about what is needed. In 2008 there were over 13,000,000 domestic airline flights and over 7,000 airplanes are in the air at any one time over the U.S. In 2005 airlines carried over 660,000,000 passengers in the U.S. alone. It is simply not possible to adequately screen 660 million passengers in a thorough way to avoid these events. What every single one of the alleged, convicted and successful terrorists have in common is they were all Muslim. We should start there. Then there are a number of other factors (age, birthplace, place of worship, travel history, etc.) that could further define enhanced screening. In essence, we need to profile and stop random screening of 80 year old Grandma's while worrying about offending twenty something Muslim men. I can assure you if all the terrorists were middle aged white males I would accept additional screening.

Political correctness is going to kill people....maybe someone you know and love. We have lost our ever loving minds in this country with this insanity. Profile now!

GF, skewered again on his own petard. Collective bargaining won't improve anything except lining the pockets of union thugs who will in turn use the money to support more Dems running for office.

Besides that, I am waiting to hear an explanation from GF as to how one person in one political position would have prevented the attack on the Delta flight. It is amazing, when Bush was in office everything was his fault (well actually Cheney and Rumsfeld too). But when the Messiah is in office suddenly the blocking of one political appointee is to blame for the failure of the administration to adequately protect us. I guess the other 200,000 employees in DHS were sitting on their hands waiting for this one guy could give them all instructions on what to do. What a laugher.... GF, you crack yourself up....

The "progressives" want both ways - be fair, be nice, BUT provide us with 100% security. It will not happen in the airport, just as it will not happen on the street or in your home.

We all know there was a monumental screw up that allowed that idiot to board the plane.

Can anyone tell us what has changed under Obama as to airport security from what was implemented under Bush? Did they use full body scanning under Bush but eliminated it under Obama? Did they use drug sniffing dogs under Bush but eliminated them under Obama? I think the same political correctness exsisted before Obama took office.

Dogs do an great job sniffing for drugs but there is an understandable fear about having a dog sniffing you that close. I wonder if there could be a narrow walkway between two wire fences that have dogs on each side sniffing that you stand in while your carryon goes through the scanner?

The fact that agencies still are not talking completely is beyond belief. Maybe, the agencies need to join this Forum for more open communication between them.

I do not think that there has been any degradation in security due to the change in the administration, and believe that this would have happened under Bush as it has under Obama. My point is that progressives seem to operate under the premise that people are ALL inherently good, and DESERVE to be treated the same. If you are civil - fine - I will treat you likewise, if you attempt to do harm to me or mine, or take what is ours.... I will NOT negotiate, I will NOT think about your family or your civil rights.

Well, trust me I don't! I believe in an eye for an eye and the death penalty.
It is beyond trying to be "nice". My fear is that no matter what we do in Iraq and Afganastan, after we leave it will be like Vietnam. Both countries will be in either a civil war forever or will just fall to the terrorists. One thing about Hussein, he ran a tight country without civil wars between the Sunni and Sharia.

I guess that Hitler also ran a tight ship before we rudely interrupted his plans for world domination?? And Saddam was doing a good job and we should have left him alone?? Gone Fishing, your state of denial regarding the threat to our kids/grand kids is really disturbing.
