heard today they [Sinclairs] may not be renewing their building lease--could we possibly be left with no place to eat on the lake ? {Christophers//Green Valley//Grillin Shack--all closed]; Anchor Bay [Harbor Docks] say they are closed for winter--hopefully they will reopen; anyone have any input ?

I wonder if Sinclair's has been feeling the heat from Spring House and the Catherine's cafe? It would be a shame to lose it from the lake, especially since it seemed like they were starting to step up.

When we went by there today around 1 they seemed to have had a pretty good crowd. We ate at Catherine's today for the first time. It was okay but very overpriced for a sandwich. They brought out 2 of the meals and we thought the guy was coming back with the other plate and he never did. I finally had to go to the counter and ask for our other meal. I was half way finished by time my husband got his sandwich. Our daughter got the grilled cheese and didn't like it. I thought it was her being a picky 5 year old but later my husband admitted it was pretty bland.

Other than their Chicken Salad, I haven't been very impressed with their food either. And their customer service leaves something to be desired too.

I don't like to see any business close ... but it is a sign of the times. If not enough people go, then they close.

But I would say this has been coming, and probably appropriate for some time. I think Sinclairs food and service is horrible.

I agree that Springhouse is a bit over priced, but love the place. When we are at the lake for the weekend we normally go both Friday and Saturday, and sometimes Sunday brunch too.

I like Catherines as a market, but the cafe they can keep. Over priced, poor quality and poor customer service.

They are suppose to be building another restaurant in the development where Springhouse is .... not sure the opening, but that may be impacting Sinclairs decision.

I used to own a restaurant in Atlanta, maybe I will inquire should Sinclairs fold the tent .... I have a concept that I think would work great at the lake.

The landlords do not make it easy for the leaseholders to keep a healthy business going, and that's when they are NOT in direct competition. Now that there are some restaurants that RL has a direct stake in, look for more and more restaurants to close. Some, like Sinclair's, they can squeeze directly. With the others it isn't quite as easy, but as we are already seeing, it is quite possible.

Tried Red Hill Cottage this past weekend ... Loved it ! I know that the paper plates, won't be good enough for some on the forum, but they were fine with me, and the steak on top of it was delicious ! Plus I have craved the banana pudding everyday since we left. Can't wait to go back.

Red Hill Cottage gets two thumbs up from me. Great folks and delicious food (I have no problem with a paper plate). My parents rarely cook and eat there daily when staying at their lake house. I like to cook, but still swing by often for a quick sandwich.

All their meats are cooked on the Big Green Eggs. Great BBQ, smoked turkey, ham and Loin. I not only eat the bananna pudding with the meal but take one home too. A very hard working family.

I love Red Hill. I guess the food is so good, I never really
noticed the paper plates... LOL. Banana pudding is really good -- but I think the one at Momma Ella's edges it out, but that's really just best vs. best.

I never really understand the "upscale" vs. down home" comparisons. It really depends on what you are in the mood for -- like comparing chicken and beef. Just depends on what you are up for at the time. But bad food and service with an attitude are always a bummer and should be avoided at any price. I'm just thankful we have options.
