We are currently building our lake home and noticed our neighbor's undeveloped lot has Styrofoam flotation pieces washed up on it's lakefront. Since the new ruling is now in effect, who is responsible for letting them know they need to remove them? I haven't been able to reach them for 2 years or so. Will the power company be contacting owners to remove the Styrofoam? Is there a report line to call? We don't want it to spread when the water comes back up in the spring. Is there a recycling place set up to take the pieces? What are people doing with their old docks?

Ala Power will be contacting owners. In the mean-time, if the pieces are light enough to handle, then I would move them up on the bank where there is no danger of washing back into the water. If no contact for 2 years, then might want to see about disposing of yourself. Better that than polluting the lake with that crap. My thoughts.

I say we burn all the styrofoam and release all those nasty fumes and gases as a protest to our new governments proposed Cap and Trade plan. Who's with me?

Some of that foam is probably too waterlogged to burn right - might want to make sure you have about five gallons of diesel fuel to get it going. Bring on the flames. :-)

We don't live there yet. We only come down a few times a year. When we come down again the lake will be up to full pool.I wondered if notices were going out to all of the lakefront owners about the new styrofoam rules for 2010. We weren't able to get the pieces out of the water ourselves, there are parts of docks that have washed up in our neighbors front.
