If you get a copy of Krogers new calendar that they give out for free .... check December 7. For most of us it is D-Day and the attack on Pearl Harbor .... but no more for Kroger !

They now show on that day "Islamic New Year" ... 100% serious and truthful. What is a matter with that company.

Interesting. I checked my day timer calendar - stills has Pearl Harbor Rememberance day, but has added First of Muharram for 2010.

Boycott, boycott, you come across as Jesse Jackson. The fools should have shown both days. The Islamic New Year varies each year on our calendar and it is based on their calendar. I agree that someone really screwed up. You need to send a letter to the President of Kroger on our behalf.

If you do not remember December 7 as the day Pearl was attacked, a note on a calender will not help you. Give up, walk into the darkness and live forever more as a Dumbacrat.

Yea, that makes sense. Let's exclude reference to New Year. Independence day, Christmas and add Groundhog day, the Day the new model Bentleys come out, and Sarah Palin's birthday. I don't understand your logic that noting Pearl Harbor Day dumbdowns the calendar. But then the logic of a Wing Nut is often hard to understand.

Now Barney Fife ...

You must not be thinking right as you get off your night shift security guard job at Wal*Wart.

It is not the point that they dropped recognition of December 7th and the importance of that date .... it was that they dropped it and added Islamic New Year on that date.

Which is more important in Americas history?

As I have said many times, you are a very very sick man in your thinking. Stick with your security work and sharing your illogical thoughts with your buddies on the beat rather than embarrassing yourself on a public board.

I feel so bad for you when i read your post.

I lost my grandfather at Pearl Harbor. You continue to pray to Allah and I wish you the best.

The great hero of statists and leftists all across the fruited plain, FDR, calls Pearl Harbor Day a "day that will live in infamy". But to the modern leftist it is no more important than Groundhog Day. That I think summarizes it folks...... sadly, their fellow travelers run Congress and the White House right now. Explains a lot.

My fist post said show both dates. My point was to ALWAYS include Pearl Harbor date even if they want to show the Islamic New Year.

My second post was in response to Lamont who said that anyone who needs to have Pearl Harbor Day on a calendar to remind one of the importantce of that date is a Dumbacrat.

"If you do not remember December 7 as the day Pearl was attacked, a note on a calender will not help you. Give up, walk into the darkness and live forever more as a Dumbacrat."

My point was that if Dec 7th is not that important to remember that it can be eliminated from the calendar than eliminate the other days. Sorry, if I totally confused the masses. Obviously, my remark was meant not to confuse you but to show how absurb Lamont's comment is.

I will try and dumbdown my comments in the future.

When I referenced the remark, it was Summer Loves remark and not Lamonts.

If you use your day timer as I use mine, you need to be reminded, from time to time, what day of the week on which certain important days occur. This is so, for example, that you don’t schedule a proposal due date on MLK Day (I have NO other comment about THAT day.) You may want to know that Christmas is on Saturday this year. You may not give a rat’s patootie that the contrived holiday of Kwanzaa begins on Sunday this year. July 4th is also on Sunday.

Government workers are especially concerned about these days of the week because they will then know whether to call in sick on Thursday… or Tuesday to extend their compensating Friday or Monday off. (I can explain this phenomenon in depth for you civilians.) Military and civilians don’t get Veterans Day off.

and to wander into a different, but related venue…

As for the Islamic holidays - while in Baghdad, I noted that there was confusion, derision, and animosity between the Sunnis and the Shiites over those days and the validity thereof. On some occasions I noted that they blew up each others wives and children over the disagreement. One should always consider the celebratory [gun] fire which accompanies these holidays of this peaceful religion.

Actually, it is "Summer Lover".

Your comment:
"My point was that if Dec 7th is not that important to remember that it can be eliminated from the calendar than eliminate the other days. Sorry, if I totally confused the masses. Obviously, my remark was meant not to confuse you but to show how absurb Lamont's comment is."

My point is that anyone with over a fourth grade education should know the historical significance of this date, nothing more. I am certainly not trying to say that there is a way to “dumbdown” a calendar, although in our rush to be perfectly P.C., we are tripping all over ourselves. At this time, although both the Republicants and Dumbacrats seem to have NOT learned enough from the past, the D’s appear to be the ones who are most in denial of historical events, and absolutely headstrong to destroy our great country.

Since when don't military and civilians get Veteran's Day off? Did something change?
Not sure who you are referring to, but I can't think of any time that I ever called in sick on the day before or the day after a holiday, nor did my colleagues. Take a day of annual? Yes, but not calling in sick. Not saying it's never done, but it certainly is not the norm. Perhaps you could explain your comment about that.

It's not likely that any of us are going to forget Pearl Harbor Day, any more than we're likely to forget September 11th, whether it's on some calendar or not.

It's entirely likely that Kroger's just bought calendars wholesale from a supplier and made no consious decision about leaving off Pearl Harbor Day or putting on Islamic New Year.
But, for the sake of argument, what is wrong with listing an Islamic holiday on a calendar, since usually Jewish and Christian holidays are listed.

Y'all get spun up on the craziest stuff.

And Major, I can't imagine why you would object to having a Martin Luther King observation. Perhaps you'd like to explain that one because I'd sure like to hear your answer.

This really shows how little I know. I always assumed a day off is a day off.
I bet Even the Loony Left would unite behind a national holiday celebrating the birthday of Sarah Palin.

What a sense of humor you have, GF.

The only thing I can think that the Major may be referring to is that we possibly used to have Lincoln's Birthday and then Washington's birthday as two seperate holidays, but I have trouble remembering back that far.
