Does anybody use BoatUS.com for their boat insurance as I figured I would get a quote out of curiosity and the quote was like 60% of my current providers rates with a lower deductible and the same liability and medical coverage.

So if anyone uses BoatUS.com for their boater insurance would like to hear about their customer service and claim recovery service. As in my opinion such is just as important as the annual premium.

Thanks

I have had boatus insurance for the last 8 years mav., never had a claim, but as you stated low premiums, so I'm happy with it.

I've had BoatUS Insurance for one year now and my premium was also about 60% lower than before (Alfa). Never made a claim, but customer service has been great. I have called about coastal coverage, changing storage, and towing and received excellent service.

You might take a look at Progressive, also. I changed several years ago on the coast and cut my premium by about 45% over USAA.

Nice rate cut, but for my money, I personally would rather deal with a local company. As I don't know about claim service, and hope I never have to find out, local might be better to deal with. I have had Alfa for years, boat, house and cars, and honestly, I have never checked anywhere else. Might be paying way too much, but, I'm happy.

Progressive is the subcontractor to USAA for boat insurance. When I called USAA last year about boat insurance, we were referred to Progressive.

USAA got out of the direct boat insurance business around '03-'05 when they found they couldn't compete with companies like Progressive. I had USAA on a larger boat and switched to Progressive before USAA made the switch.

My father -in-law used this insurance while he was a sailor on a large boat out in the gulf. He was happy with them and also used them several times for the tow insurance they provide when you subscribe to the magazine. FYI. IT's a reimbursement thing if I remember correctly.

Alot of times people are only worried about what the premium and deductible cost of their insurance is, but very seldom do they consider what kinda coverage they have when involved in an accident.Alfa hands down is the easiest insurance company to deal with that i have dealt with to date! progressive writes their own reports and estimates and the shop owner only has the right to dispute something if the they were to disagree. I have an adjuster coming from boat us today and this will be my first deal with them, so i cant comment on how they do business. Will keep informed. Jeff

We also have Progressive insurance on our boats. THe Good Friday hailstorm damaged one side of our boat and we also had some damage from someone plowing by us in the big water (busted the catch on the front gate and dented the front Panels). The Agent came promptly and cut the check in his car for us. After getting an estimate, he was about 30% low, but after chatting with our marina, he sent me another check the next day to cover the shortage.

Jeff:

Once you have a final resolution on the boat claim would like to hear the results. As I stated earlier premiums are one thing but how a claim is handles is as, if not, more important to me.

Thanks

I use a local company out of montgomery. Jinright -Turner is an independent ins. company. We have progressive through them with all toys. They are especially good if you have young drivers.
