Recently, we were called on by Marty Krael of Childrens Harbor for help with reconditioning their pontoon boat. This is the boat they use to carry children who are in a wheel chair. The boat is a 28' Sanpan. It has NO furniture, (because more wheelchairs fit without it) a wheel chair ramp for loading, and anchor points to secure the chairs in there respective places. The boat needed all new decking, carpet and we will replace the engine and entire electrical system with one from another boat they provided us. We have completely stripped the boat, and are now putting it all back together. There will be many upgrades when we return the boat to Childrens Harbor, like new bow and stern lighting, recest anchors (instead of lag bolts sticking up from the floor, ouch) for securing chairs, an upgraded helm and drivers seat and much more. Although I have agreed to provide all reasonable parts and services to Childrens Harbor for this project at no charge, we are taking steps to make this special purpose boat better, more attractive and more user friendly than before. I guess you can say there is a good bit of pride going into it. I have listed below a few items either needed, or already purchased that are either an upgrade, or extra that needed to be done to have an extraordinary outcome. Please see the list below:

1. Marine grade Plywood 3/4" $260.04
2. Stainless recest anchors with retractable loops $38.76
3. Carpet upgrade to soft/woven upscale outdoor $190.27
4. Carpet Glue $26.73
5. Misc. stainless hardware/screws/bolts/nuts $46.19
6. New bow lighting (red/green 2 fixtures) $19.95 each (Bass Pro-shop, Prattville)
7. AM/FM stereo with 2 speakers $280.00 (parts only, CKR of Montgomery will provide labor for install)
8. Marine Battery Box $19.99
9. Marine battery $74.50 (The one in the boat works, but it looks very old)
10. Stern light LED $25.00
11. Captains chair for driver $129.00 (Bass Pro)
12. Depth/fish finder for kids day of fishing $100.00
13. Bimini tops $$ unknown. Used? ideas?

Should anyone like to donate the money for any one line item above, your generousity would be very much appreciated! We have been taking pictures and plan on doing a slide show of the rebuild. There will be many man hours in this project, and I will personally see that expectations will be exceeded. Should you want to participate, don't post your request to this thread. To make it easy- Please call the office at 334-358-2838. Dee Dee or I will take your CC# and pay the line item of your choice. There are only ten lines, so this should go quick. I will be in the office until 7pm tonight, and Dee Dee 9am-5pm tomarrow. Should you not want to help with an item above, and have something that you would like to add/donate to this project that is welcome also. I look foreward to talking to some tonight! God Bless you all. I will not post who does what unless requested by the member.

Thanks for your efforts. I am in Chattanooga and several of the local children travel each summer to Childrens Harbor. I am glad to help with this project so that the Children can have the opportunity to enjoy the things we take for granted.

Looks Good Cat and Great work scoring some browney points with the Big Guy upstairs on this one for sure.

But it should read M.V. Harbor Mate.
S.S. stands for Steam Ship.
M.V. stand for Motor Vessel.

But I am sure the kids will not notace and it looks fantastic!!!! Do you need any more parts for the boat? I may be able to help some small amount. "Tough time of year ya know" I didn't see this project post till this evening.

Looks like all is under control. There is a good bit of work left. New engine is on, and still has to be tuned up. We hope to deliver it back around noon on Saturday. Maybe some of us can meet up when we give it back to them. I will post ETA later on. I can't think of anything we need as of now, thanks. Response was absolutley wonderful. You all are great folks, that is for sure.

Steve
ps. Steam Ship, Motor Vessel, it's all "Will Power"

Steve - Just say your post and meant to reply yesterday.

Notice you stated do not need anything else, but if some of us folks donated GAS MONEY. To late to contribute to this great cause???

If not too late Call me if gas money would help out or post here as well as sure some of us folks could continue to donate the gas money.

Love the SS poster, great idea.

Thanks MAV. I'll add up all of the reciepts/charges tonight to make sure all is covered. Our labor is donated, and there is only little in outside services. I'll be in touch.
