is there a lawn treatment[weeds//fertilize] company in the lake area ? the TruGreen people have to come from Montgomery, & naturally, add to the cost because of travel

We use Tru Green out of Auburn / Opelika as they service the Lake Martin area.

Montgomery office quoted me $47 / treatment; I have about 1800 sq ft of grass

That is only 2.5 cents per square foot which seems reasonable. It is not like you have to do it weekly or monthly. Hopefully, they use chemicals that won't
have a negative effect if it washes into the lake. Good luck.

are you saying that you are offended by a neighbor who causes smoke from burning trash but not annoyed by chemical pesticides/phosphates being washed into your neighbor's water from your lawn?

you use the Scott's treatment plan and do it yourself? I always got great results. If course you have to carefully follow the labeling to avoid problems but it really is easy. 5 treatments.
TruGreen is a national company and I have always had better luck with a local well-informed operator. They need their own dedicated truck and applicator since you have to know what you are doing. It's a bad idea to switch off a grass cutter to the fertilizer truck to fill in. I'm not sure that applicators in AL have to be licensed. Ask for that if you go that way. Ask for any certifications and courses they have taken.
