Do you think that a boat lift could lower itself down into the water. The one that I have is Elec. I am trying to figure out if over about a month time could it lower itself into the water or lower itself down by about a foot? What do you think?

I think that one month ago the lake was 1 foot lower than it is this weekend.. Just maybe you are a blonde?? Or I'm just wrong and you have a screwed up lift..

They are wired for remotes if you use the correct one. Remotes that work are things like jewelry or puppies – get the right one and she will go up and down.

Well we do have to have our little jokes when we get an opening. It's usually about here in the thread that somebody that really knows an answer clocks in to help. Nobody is making fun of you, just making fun.

I don't see how a worm gear drive lift could lower itself (if that's what you have); they are self locking. Of course, if you had a short or someone activated the switch then yes.
A hydraulic/electric left could leak down overtime; some have a safelty lock to prevent this.

Permantly tie a length of quality rope to one of the piers on the lift. Tie a sheet bend in the other end. Loop the bend thru and around a cleat on the boat whenever the boat is moored in the lift, in water or not.
If the lift fails, the boat stays at home. If the boat escapes anyway, a human caused it to escape.

I feel your pain, but the forum is a delicate balance between humor, fact, myth, and great help from our members(Bruce does a fine job of removing any REAL trashing). We all hope you find your boat and there are many here that would spend the day burning their gas to help a stranger....laugh with us, and let us know what we can do to really help when help is needed, but be prepared for a little poke now and then. If anyone here see's you boat, I'm 100% sure they will rescue it, take good care of it, and help you get it back. Good Luck, and I hope you stay with us.

I had forgotten how I handled my lift when I was on Lanier. I did a similar thing. Got a air hose leak from a fisherman. The lift went down but the lines kept the boat in the slip.

Never been right in the head, never intend to be - have too much fun like I am. I also forgot - a new tool can be used as a remote as well, Ray says it even works for brunettes. ;-)
