I went out on my poarch Friday night, about 8:30 to watch my Green Monster light. The usual crowd was there, some bream and catfish. But there was another visitor there also, a huge school of shad, I presume, was swimming deep and tight. When they went directly over the light, it would completely block the light like it had gone out. When they would skirt the light it made amazing shadow and light movement. I Don't know if anything was chasing them, they stayed around for a while. Thought about wetting a line, but it was raining. I've been on the lake for 30 years and there's always something new to see.

Last year, I saw the same thing over our light. I thought it was one of the most beautiful and amazing things I had ever seen. I don't think anything chases them, I think they must get mesmerized by the light.

I enjoy watching them too - have tried to get a picture, but have not been able to get a good one with my camera....

I guess the stripers hanging around my green lights are keeping the shad away!!!

And another amazing gift is the annual baby geeze. We saw our first ones this year yesterday morning with mom and dad overseeing their travels.

You can have all the geese you can round up around our place - my wife started feeding them about six years ago, and the flotillas are still dropping by for a handout. We stopped feeding them a few years back - although the ducks and fish still enjoy a free lunch (free to them).

Thier 'gifts' are bigger than my dogs and much more prolific. I am sure that some of you guys already get my share becuase I run them off with bottle rockets.

I quit using bottle rockets as they could out fly them, so have gone to the 3' long missile's now. So all the geese are heading back your way as they now laugh at bottle rockets.
