Well, well the GOP has voted to end the filibuster against the bank reform bill. You wing nuts must be mad as he$$ that your party nows wants more government regulation. Poor, poor wing nuts it is so tragic that your party has no principles. Rather, they vote NO 3 times and then realize that it is killing them politically. So, they suddenly say YES.

Barney never does that. Pelosi never does that. Reid never does that. But, the GOP is a party of pansies who will change their vote depending on the direction of the wind.

I voted for change and I'm proud of it.

I suspect that there are some GFs who said this same thing during the first term of Chavez in Venezuela. I doubt that they would repeat this statement 10 years later with the reign "for life" of Chavez, "the man of change".

Right on GF..

And I'm amazed that the Director of Homeland Security thinks the appropriate response to direct Congressional question from a Senior Senator -- "Is the Arizona border secure??" -- was "that's an unfair question." Regretably, someone is going to buy the next terrorist attack on this Nation, and I really hope you don't blame it on George Bush..

-As an independent I always say pox on both parties.
-Ethics are low across the board.
-GF is right about the repubs caving in. We don't need more regulations. Reference the past fiscal crisis, we just needed to enforce the regulations that the congress already had in place.
-I'm sure GF feels teh same about the lack of ethics that was the Health Care vote.
-Equally interesting was Rubio non-ethical stance in Florida going against the Arizona law. How can you be for safe borders but against that law. It defies logic. Unless your logic is that race/ethnicity issues trump everything else.
-Politicians are interested in three things: election, reelection, and reelection

A couple of comments GF just to put some perspective on your ill-founded gloating.

The fact is there were several changes to the bill in committee because of the blocking of cloture by the GOP. When they got all the changes they could, not all they wanted, but all they could in committee they decided to allow it to go the Senate floor for debate. That is called politics and is a tool in the tool box to get changes to bills. Dems used it quite often when the GOP controlled the Senate. What will also happen there is amendments will be proposed by both Dems and the GOP. All the Dem amendments will be approved and all the GOP amendments will be rejected. The bill will then probably pass on a straight party line vote (unless a couple of RINO's fall away which is always possible).

So, like the porkulus the Dem party will own this awful legislation and will pay the price in November.

Now as for Reid, Pelosi and Rumpranger Barney, to quote you, cite your source that they have never changed their vote. As for me, just one recent example was Reid's initial no vote on healthcare reform which he quickly switched to yes. Of course that changed vote was because he is a moron and didn't even know what he was voting for. So cite your sources that none of them have ever changed their vote........I'll wait........

Now MM.....this is totally unfair to GoFor for you to use so much logic and facts in your post.......he just used the answer that Ed Schultz of MSNBC gave him and he did not expect to have to deal with real world process used in the Congress. You may get an answer from him after the Ed show today. :-}

They caved in after the Goldman hearing. It is called face saving. I bet ya it is NOT along party lines and there will be GOP votes for the final bill. Your logic at times is overwhelming. This is just not one of those times.

As to Schultz, I never heard of him.

Cheers.

I used to watch Matthews, Hannity, O'Reilly, and Beck. I will catch Blitzer while eating dinner and read online news. I just Googled Schultz and honestly never heard of him. I guess I am now considered ill informed but remember...

I voted for change and I'm proud of it.

I note you ignored my asking for you to cite your source about the contention that Reid/Pelosi/Frank never change their vote or did you just make that up? That's OK, I am used to fact free statements from the left wing nuts....

I also told what the GOP Senators said about their letting the cloture vote go forward but you assume it was something else. I guess you are more than free to make up their reasons if you want but to quote you once again, please cite your source.

BTW, did you notice that Dems in Congress are following the lead of the GOP by now focusing on border security? I suppose that was a principled move and not a purely political calculation? Oh, I forgot that there are different standards on the left.

The Goldman hearings were a complete embarrassment for the most of the senators asking questions. Goldman did a great job and showed this is not only a witch hunt, but that we have senators that can not even balance their check book and are trying to question the worlds best financial minds.

I watched as much of the hearing as I could ... I was laughing since they obviously do not understand about market making, managing risk, why you may go long and then change and go short. There is not a crime in making money ... and they were dealing with highly educated and knowlegable counter parties that were very willing to take the opposing side of the transaction.

When Levin started in that Goldman received a payment from AIG and that was tax payers dollars ... and they said but we did not make that decision, the government did ... and had AIG defaulted we had an insurance policy to cover that ... we managed our risk. Levin kept saying, but it was still tax payers dollars ... and he was not getting that it was not Goldman's decision to bail out AIG.

You see what happen to Goldman's stock after the hearing ... it zoomed back up to almost where it was before the SEC filed suit. That says that not only do investors back and trust Goldman, but that they believe after the hearing that there is no smoking gun and Goldman did nothing against the law and not even morally wrong.

we have seen this before from GF ... he shoots his mouth off like he has a brain or even a bit of knowledge ... but what push comes to shove, he caves and goes in hiding like a church mouse.

But then again ... that is the style of most liberals ... attack when someone does not agree, and then cry foul if asked to back their lame statement.

"not even morally wrong." When a wing nut speaks of morals they speak from one with low expectations. If you truly believe they did nothing morally wrong selling short against their own advice to buy long then you appear to be sadly morally corrupt.

As to Reid, I stand corrected. He did vote NO on the first health vote and on the amendments and quickly changed his vote to YES before the vote closed. Also, I believe he voted NO to the bailout knowing it was going to be defeated so he could bring it up for another vote. He had to be on the winning side to do it according to procedures. As to citations, my comments can be cited as gospal except when I am wrong.

I see that MM agrees that BOTH parties play politics with votes. On that issue, we agree. One would believe from your posts that it is a political ploy
that Dems have a monopoly using.

Hmmmmm...now I am confused. Your quote:

"I see that MM agrees that BOTH parties play politics with votes. On that issue, we agree. One would believe from your posts that it is a political ploy that Dems have a monopoly using."

And yet this entire thread was started by you accusing the GOP only and even specifically listed three Dems that allegedly never do so. Only a left wing nut can make an accusation and then accuse a conservative of making it.......boggles the mind.

showing you know nothing ... Goldman "advised" no one ... they made a market ... they had a long position and then changed to short .... but neither matters ... they provided a service to their client ... the position the choose to take does no matter. They did what the client wanted. The client would not care their position ... why would they?

See you just listen to the irrational senators that have no knowledge, do not understand the transaction and try to win public opinion. The wone yours ... but then again if the said red was blue you would be on board.

:)

GF, you voted for change and you are proud of it. Did you vote merely for the slogan, or do you really want an accelerated expansion of the nanny state, with Americans, especially middle-income earners, hammered in their paychecks by Obama’s Brave New Big Government. Less take-home pay for Americans is bound to hurt the businesses — mostly small — that are the lifeblood of our economy, and especially hit hard in middle- and working-class communities. As we’ve seen in the Northeast and Midwest, government direction and spending is no substitute for people voluntarily spending their money in free exchanges. That free exchange makes communities vital. Laffer has demonstrated over the years, and as most everybody but liberal jack asses (symbol of the Democrat party) understand, high tax rates —along with indirect taxes through government-imposed higher costs — don’t make for increased government revenues. And government can’t borrow forever, either. CY 2009 brought us 125 federal new laws, and 3615 new central government agency regulations. I'm certain that if you have sense enough to logon to this forum, that you possess the mental faculties needed to see the extent of the damage the current administration is doing to this, our United States. If you can't see it, all I can do is offer up some prayers, and hope that some kind soul (probably a community oriented conservative, as liberals will only talk about your dire circumstances, unless someone from the press is present with a camera) will look after you. So tell me GF, can you see reality, or do I move you to the top of my prayer list.

He's certainly an unabashed liberal, but I doubt he is glad he voted for this hope and change... unless he is a staunch socialist.. which is a possibility.. Are you socialist, Mr Gone Fishing??

"Bull$#!+" That wasn't nice to say to Huskiee. You upset him so much he posted 3 wasted postings. I think an apology to your fellow wing nut is in order. It is rather obvious he can't handle your off the wall comment. He must be one of those more sensitive wing nuts. Maybe, as MM would say a closet weenie liberal.
