The Gov. of Louisiana has declared a state of emergency, Shrimping grounds have been closed, The mayor of Orange Beach is losing sleep, people are cancelling reservations in PC Beach, Charley has re-flipped, BP wants a Federal bailout, and still she gushes at 210000 gallons a day. Only 45 more days (a distinct possibility) and we have "Exxon Valdese" II......DRILL BABY DRILL!!

On behalf of all your fellow posters, welcome back. They have often asked about you which is a sincere form of flattery. They sure are quiet about the massive oil spill. Maybe, they are waiting to let Palin take the lead and they will follow like, as lotowner would say, the sheep following the goat.

I agree .... drill baby drill. I would rather risk an accident like this every 30-40 years than funding terrorist activities and exporting dollars to middle east countries. Plus gas is getting close to $4 again and that is a tax on middle and low income americans .... come on a liberal socialist like you should even be against that. Maybe we can tax you more since you have done so well under the Obama economy. But don't wait for Obama to take it from you ... just send it to Washington and they will decide how to spend it since you support the destruction of our economy by Obama. I know you feel government can spend your money better than you.

I for one don't blame you for going in hiding .... i would be embarrased to to see all the failures of what you supported and not one of your predictions came true. So sad.

If there is a serious plane crash due to human error ... do you stop travel by air? What about Toyota's problems ... should we stop building or driving cars? Get real.

Lets eliminate cars since they pollute that way we do not need oil and run the risk of a problem when drilling. And we can switch all power plants to Nuclear since we have coal accidents and oil accidents ... oh wait we had nuclear accidents too like three mile island and chernoyl ...

I guess we should be scared of everything and go back to the dark ages and stop drilling oil, generating power, driving cars. We can all live off the land. But don't light a candle or a fireplace, we may burn a house down too.

oops ... forget bicycles ... you need oil to make the tires. I guess we can have wooden wheels.

So now that the first major offshore wind farm has been approved in the US (off of Mass - blue state (mostly)), residents are fighting to prevent its construction. Thought alternative energy was the answer to all all ills. Can't have it both ways.

Archie, this from Geo-Marine, an international peer-reviewed journal published in Germany, from a 2002 accepted paper:

Abstract Recent global estimates of crude-oil seepage rates suggest that about 47% of crude oil currently entering the marine environment is from natural seeps, whereas 53% results from leaks and spills during the extraction, transportation, refining, storage, and utilization of petroleum. The amount of natural crude-oil seepage is currently estimated to be 600,000 metric tons per year, with a range of uncertainty of 200,000 to 2,000,000 metric tons per year. Thus, natural oil seeps may be the single most important source of oil that enters the ocean, exceeding each of the various sources of crude oil that enters the ocean through its exploitation by humankind.

Now I'm not saying I don't have extreme sympathy for all those whom this spill will affect, (most for the families of those that perished) but I believe this planet, as suggested by this scientific article, has the innate means to cleanse itself. Maybe not as quickly as some would want, but how can the left gripe about harvesting oil from the seabed in amounts that are less than naturally occurring leaks?

The Cantrel field in the gulf was discovered by a Mexican fisherman, whose nets were being fouled by natural seepage. He complained to the Mexican government, who finally investigated, leading to development of one of the largest fields in Mexican history. The field is named for the fisherman.

Been months since you lasted posted, eh? You remind me of the sick people that gawk at a traffic accident looking for dead bodies. Of course it probably doesn't mean anything to you that in the Gulf of Mexico naturally occurring oil seeps average 5,000 barrels per day. I wonder if Mother Nature has a permit to seep 275,000 gallons of oil every day into the Gulf of Mexico?!?!?! We need Congressional hearings!!!!

As for Exxon Valdez, have you been to that area lately? It is pristine and beautiful. Cleanup worked just fine thank you very much. And your beloved government also extracted a $9B fine out of Exxon, which of course was paid by the consumer in higher gas prices.

Archy, did you realize that each and every year 20,000,000 gallons of heating oil leaks from homes designed by architects? I think we need to stop these awful architects from designing homes. They are contributing to the pollution of our environment!!! In fact, every single building they design uses energy to heat it and cool it and provide lighting for the occupants. They need to pay America back for this assault on our environment! How does it feel to be associated with a profession that is destroying our planet? Pretty good huh, as long as you make your blood money. As for me, I work in the environmental business and actually clean up the messes you and other architects make.

That's why I didn't miss you Archy, you are like a punching bag, you just take the hits and keep coming back for more........

They also have to cut down trees to make the lumber to make your buildings and strip mines to get the gypsum to make wall board. And my gosh, I almost forgot the petroleum products that go into making shingles. The list of your affronts to our sacred environment go on and on. Have some integrity and get out of the business Archie! Greenpeace is always looking for enviro-wackos to throw their bodies in front of fishing boats or chain themselves to the trees.

What a hypocrite you are......and clueless to boot.

Subject:   White House disagrees with Archie!!!
Date:   4/30/2010 2:55:40 PM

From Reuters.

"The administration's offshore oil and gas plan proposes a thoughtful, scientifically grounded process for determining which new areas on the outer continental shelf are appropriate for exploration and development, and for assessing the potential risks and benefits of development in areas that are being explored," the White House said in a statement.

Oh that evil George Bush.....oh, wait a second.....he hasn't been in the White House since January 2009....and he didn't recently propose an increase in offshore drilling.....it was the Messiah!!!! Amazing, is it possible this may not actually be Bush's fault?!?!?....inconceivable!!.......what's a poor left wing nut to do?!?!?........

Film at 11....this has actually been fun. Thanks Archie!
