Another example of a warped definition of Family Values consisiting of a husband, wife, and mistress. Rep. Mark Souder, an Indiana Republican, will resign because of an affair with a female aide.

Souder, who describes himself as an evangelical Christian, came to Congress in 1994 as part of the "Republican Revolution" led by Newt Gingrich.

To be Fair and Balanced, Souder would be the second member of Congress to resign this year amid a scandal. Rep. Eric Massa, D-N.Y., stepped down in March amid allegations of inappropriate behavior with a male staffer.

So what are you saying? I don't get your point. Are you saying that because republicans speak of family values that it is wrong because someone makes a mistake? You have no idea what is going on in that guys life. I don't condon it, but I also don't judge.

I will say that it is easier to accept vs messing around with a male staffer .... maybe you don't agree.

But guess what ... I don't care.

Why no mention of Eric Massa until today?

Didn't miss it. This just once again demonstrates that when you have principals and you fail to live up to them you have to pay the price. Sadly, were he a Democrat this would actually be a resume enhancer. When you have no standards you have nothing to be held to.....

As an Independant, I don't have to defend either party. But as a voter, I have to pick between or among parties. SO to me party platforms, and especially actions, are important.

-I've always have one problem with the dems, and that is their eagerness to make fun of teh repubs as being the party of God and family values, especially when a repub proves to be mortal.

-Howwever, the Spitzers, Kennedys, Clintons, etc seem to require no condemnation from teh dems, leading one to think they are the party of no God and no family values, ...and worse, kind of revel in it.

-To me when a repub fails in this area, it just seems like the wrong thing for a dem to want to emphasize it, ... or draw conparisons to it.

-But that's just me. If you must, then have at it....

I got a letter from Rep Boehner today… asking for money to throw out Pelosi et al. In their pre-paid envelope, I wrote back informing Rep Boehner that I am an Independent now and the Republicans need to show me something. Leadership and morals would be a good start. Ummmm… and my check was not in that envelope.

This happens so often lately, it is barely newsworthy.

I think this situation (and all the others, both sides of the aisle) just goes to prove that the image of these people gets spun by professional image makers, and in the end, we have very little idea for whom we are voting. It's become a lot like the old "celebrity" system when the movie production houses crafted a persona for movie stars.

I saw it this morning on Fox News.I believe it was above the Blumenthal "I mis-spoke" announcement. I just looked again. Blumenthal is second column, Souder on the first. There's no missing this if you consult a true news organization.
