OK...since APCO thought in their best interest to cut the rope swing down near the dam...has anyone found a replacement yet? That swing was more than a swing...it was a great place to hang out with the kids and family and friends

I have a great idea. Lets put it in front of your place! You can pay for the liability insurance, in case anyone gets hurt. We can damage your property by runnning up jumping off your lawn. and you can have a half dozen boats at your front door at any given time, and you can clean up the mess after we are all gone home. How would that be? I am not against having fun and I am not a tree hugger, but If you want a rope swing build one at your place.

I could be wrong, but, all the times we used that rope swing, I did not see anyone's home, lawn, porch. I did see lots of people having alot of fun. If there is a home in dem dar woods, I would like to thank the people for allowing us to use the swing for so many years and with the lawyer activity the way it is these days, I can understand the removal. I just hope they had the proper permission to cut that big tree down.

Shirt...bless your heart...you not what you speak of...this rope swing was near the dam on Alabama Property...no houses for miles and miles, no grass to run up on and jump from...NO ONE is hanging out in front of anyone's house.

where are the rope swings in manoy? i've looked but can't find them. i'm sure they're easy to spot when someone's using them, but can't seem to catch anyone in the act.

Rope Swing locations - when you come out of the river into the mouth of Manoy Creek, (flag will be on your left), continue until you have to turn. Dare Park will be to the right, go left and hug the right side of the shoreline. Look deep into the trees and you will see the first one back in a small slew-like area. If you miss the first one, keep looking right and you'll see the second one out on the main body of water. You can then backtrack and find the first one. My boys think the second one is better, but they use both.

The best one is in front of ole "shirt's" house!!!! He welcomes us all and the first 250 people get free hotdogs and Pepsi!! :-)

So the one in the very back is fixed? 3 weeks ago it was just a short rope hangin off the tree.
