You ever take a good, close look at the politicians in Alabama? Sleaze doesn't restrict itself to either side of the aisle. If you are going to cite one, cite all.

From the Rome Cavalieri Hilton, with an unbelievable view of the ancient city (thanks to MANY nights in Hilton properties),

Always on extra alert when in crowded places...if especially crowded have hand on passport and wallet at all times.

Sorrento was way too crowded as was Capri - but in the latter case my wife and I found a really neat hotel on the side of the island away from the masses of tourists. Wish we had planned one less day in Sorrento and one more on Capri. Driving on those twisting roads with all kinds of surprises around the next hairpin turn can be "exciting" and certainly wears you out. Drove 40 km from Sorrento to Ravello and when we finally arrived I was limp as a dishrag...and then after lunch had to do it again in reverse...

This hotel in Rome (Rome Cavalieri) is a part of the Waldorf Astoria collection and has a view that is unbelievable. If one is ever in Rome and can afford it I would highly recommend a stay here...make sure you get a city-view room. If we weren't being repaid for all those nights being loyal Hilton guests we wouldn't have been able to do it for sure.

Alas, will be returning to reality (Montgomery) tomorrow, but have one more great meal planned tonight at my favorite restaurant around the corner from the Coliseum. Family-run place with fantastic food and we are always treated as members of the family (probably because members of our group over the years have spent enough there to buy their restaurant..:-).

Agree...last year this time we were paying $1.56 for a Euro. This year $1.22. Lunch in both Sorrento and Capri still costs about a hundred bucks for two, though.

I showed your emails to the wifey and, as a result, tomorrow we will be dining at the Olive Garden. Enjoy your time in Italy and have a safe flight home.

Actually OG has a few dishes that are close to the real deal - but rarely do we encounter dishes in Italy that are so laden with garlic. Also, American Italian restaurants love to serve chicken - and out of literally hundreds of meals in Italy and I think I have been offered a chicken dish once, maybe twice. It is primarily seafood - clams, mussels, calimari, octopus, sardines (not the awful kind you get in a can)- prosciutto, sausages and some bolognese style (tomato and meat-based sauce). We had a Caprese salad at lunch yesterday high on some mountainside outside of Sorrento that was to die for. We just saw a sign that indicated there was a restaurant and drove up the hill....just to find a five star hotel and very inexpensive restaurant. We were as lucky on that one as unlucky on a couple of the others. I still shudder at thye hundred buck restaurants in Sorrento and Capri.

We will do our part and be dutiful sheep on the plane and hope the crew does theirs as well.

Looking forward to getting back...

Cheers,

NH

This would have been a resume enhancer for him. GF, I know how you love to point out the failings of members of the GOP. But for every one of those I can list five from the Demoncrats. I'm glad he was caught and I am sure he will pay for his crimes. That's what is great about America....at least everywhere but Chicago and now the White House. Funny you haven't focused on the jobs program to get people not to participate in primaries being run out of the Obama White House. Maybe you should run in the primary against an Obama favorite and you too can get a cushy gov't job......

Martini, you covered it quite well on 3/15 and 5/24. I felt there was no need to be rundant but I am wolling to bring you up to date.

"Sestak, who for months would not disclose any details of the offer, addressed it last week outside the Capitol in Washington. He answered questions and insisted that there was nothing unusual about his talk with Clinton; he said it lasted between 30 and 60 seconds."

I still fail to understand how he could be offered a position on a Presidential Advisory Board and continue to serve as a member of the House.
But then, Obama is the messiah. I do hope the Republicans continue to force the issue and get any additional facts. If the Dems offered him a paying position, then there needs to be appropriate penalties.

I have thought about running and a job offer but the highlight of my resume would be that I post on the Forum and maintain a negative rating among the overwhelming number of wing nuts. I never did understand what an adult achieves by posting a rating. I can see rating a babe in a bikini but a Poster???? Sounds like some need another activity in their life.

We all know that they offered him a paying job and he would have left the House if he took it. What is more odd to me is why he disclosed it. I have read it was his desire to be seen as an outsider while casting Specter as the ultimate insider or some other explanation. None of that works for me. I agree this needs more scrutiny but I am willing to bet this is but one of many instances of them running the WH under the Chicago political model.....

I wasn't even sure how to check your rating but I tracked it down. A -16 is definitely a resume enhancer. :-) I have never rated anyone until now but I gave you a positive rating which moved you to -14. I am thinking I will actively ask people to provide you with a positive rating so we can ruin your chances for that big government job. I then checked mine and saw I was at -1 and I am being ignored by one person. You are being ignored by four people so I have my work cut out for me.....oh, wait a second.....that's bad isn't it? I will try not to lose too much sleep over it.

I just bought a cookbook "Recipes from an Italian Summer" which is authentic Italian and I noticed there are very few chicken recipes in it. Lots of fish. They also don't eat pasta the way we do -- loaded with sauce and in gigantic quantities.

Thanks for your support. BUT, how do I go from -16 to -14 with your vote UNLESS you are really a Chicago Democrat????????????? Martini, one man two votes...aka Machine Man Martini the Chicago Dem!!!!!!

GF, no idea how it works but it was -16 before I gave you a positive review and -14 when I finished. Maybe it is Chicago politics or maybe its like in animal farm.....we are all equal, but some are more equal than others......

Can we agree that when someone does something like this, that they are neither Republican nor Democrat? They are criminals. After being found guilty by a jury of their peers, of course:). I prefer to have good people on both sides, I'm just saying...
