This sounds scary and I hope it’s false but it is plausible when you consider the force of a volcano and the pressure deep within the earth.
The flow of crude through the BP well can certainly erode and enlarge the hole. Read the link and decide for yourself. I couldn’t find anything on Snopes to discount it

It makes sense to me. Every week they up the estimate as to how much oil is coming out. If we knew the real truth, particularly about their inability to contain it (which is becoming slowly obvious), people would freak out on the scale with 9/11.
It's become so depressing, I have to limit the amount of coverage that I watch and what I read.
