After 30 years with the government I'm getting ready to retire and come home to Lake Martin. I would like to buy a "reasonably priced" waterfront lot in the Blue Creek to Bama Park area. I might consider a lot with cabin. If anyone knows of a "deal" please PM me at steve.black@robins.af.mil. Thanx in advance for any help.

There are a number of excellent realtors in the area who can probably help you find what you are looking for. Highly recommend you work with one of them, otherwise you could end up paying too much for something. BTW, I'm not a realtor.

At the top of the page, open up Real Estate. Theny under Type you can do Lots and then Residence. Hit Waterfront. Under Price put in the Maximum you want to pay. Then hit Search and see what is available from Owners and through Realtors.

Folks, thanx for the info. I've looked at several realty sites over the last year and have seen the asking prices. If you'll notice in my original request the words reasonably priced were in quotes. I know the price of everything on the lake has skyrocketed since my Dad sold a prime deepwater lot with a 3 bedroom mobile home on Blue Creek in 1994 for $5000.00. Kinda makes you cry.... Anyway, I'm a retiring engineer - not a millionaire. That's why I think that buying a lot and building is my best option. I will still consider a lot/cabin combo. I forsee an influx of people either from the Coast LIne or retiring to the Lakes vs the Coast Line in the very near future. Therefore, prime lake property like Lake Martin may take a big jump in desirability.
Good Luck and let us know when you become a neighbor. You will have to change your handle since your attitude will be adjusted once you retire to the Lake.

$5,000? Surely you meant $50K. You might consider a lake "access" lot. There are plenty of them around reasonably priced. I think the best deal in lots I have ever seen is in Stillwaters. You need a slip or dry stack for lake access but where else can you find a nice big lot in a gated, golf, tennis community with a full service marina for under $15K? When the recovery happens there will be lots of folks saying..gee I wish.... And.... IMHO you really need a realtor. You more than likely will not save a commission by avoiding one and you might pay too much for too little.

Wow, that hurts. The waterfront RV lots in the former Bama Park were $39,000 in the early 90's. How come I can never find these people that give lakefront property away?

no financing available for mobile homes//campsite lots like Bama Park, other than CASH or SELLER FINANCING; impossible to resale also; only lots in your price range ($5k] are way off water & obviously, a tough resale later
